I've been waiting to hop on the Kickstarter bandwagon for awhile. The service is an incredible resource for indie developers across the world and is a tremendous force that is shaping the industry into something new and exciting. It was only a matter of time before I finally found the drive to make an account and throw some of my hard earned dollars at an exciting new project. That project is 'Heart Forth, Alicia', a wierd name I know but a glimpse of the game in motion and basic premise was all that was necessary to get my attention.
Here's the deal. Heart Forth, Alicia draws inspiration from classic 16-bit RPG's and wildly popular, genre-defining games like 'Castlevania: Symphony of the Night' and blends it with modern, fact-paced combat and beautiful technical effects. The result is a game that straddles the line between retro and modern gaming. It feels strange to see some of these technical effects being rendered against a backdrop that looks and feels very traditional but it ultimately works and it's absolutely gorgeous.
You can check out the development blog (HERE) to catch a glimpse of some of the awesome combat and technical effects. Some of the tricks that the character can pull off are rather impressive thanks to the mobility of the character and the atmosphere of the world captures the essence of games like Chrono Trigger beautifully.
The game is currently being funded on Kickstarter and it is already well on it's way to being funded. If it is funded, Alonso Martin, the lead developer, will be hiring additional talent to help bring the game across the finish line sometime in early 2015. I threw down a little extra money to ensure that I snag the soundtrack. If any of you out there are looking for a new project to fund, this is definitely worth your attention.

Looks cool, but so did Monster Tale on DS for a lot of similar reasons. That game fell apart because it had underwhelming level design and systems. Needless to say, I want to see more of this before I go and fund it.

Considering this guy has been working on this project alone for 7 years, I'd really like to see it get funded just for that reason alone. I'm sure it won't have any issue with the Starbound developer Chucklefish pushing the PR and publishing it. It'd be awesome if it really went above and beyond the goal. I'm very excited for this project.

The game definitely looks cool. Its totally going to be funded and then some, last I checked it was already at 52,000 out of their 60,000 dollar goal and they still have 28 days to go. I'm keeping this game on my radar.

I jumped in backing it and Hamster Knight 2 (which Brad posted to Twitter a few days ago). Hoping both are successful projects (not just in financial backing but in delivery and expectations).
