Telltale Games announced today the much-anticipated follow-up to The Walking Dead, the episodic interactive drama/adventure game which surpassed expectations across the board and racked up multiple Game of the Year awards.
A cliffhanger at the conclusion of the first season left fans wondering where the series would go, with particular mention to the fate of Clementine, the emotional core of the season. The team at Telltale is now able to announce that not only does Clementine yet live, she will be the playable character in season two- thus lending an interesting dynamic to the way the player perceives the world.
"Today we can finally lift the veil," said Telltale CEO and Co-Founder Dan Connors, "on how this story will continue, and we'll soon be putting players in the shoes of a lead role that will challenge their expectations of how to survive in a world where no one can be trusted."
The trailer is brief and contains little news other than Clementine's presence and the fact that season two exists, but that should be news enough for excitement. I loved the first episode of Telltale's newest series, The Wolf Among Us, and this news only cements the fact that this developer has plenty in store for the industry to pay attention to.
The Walking Dead: Season Two's first episode will release "some time before Christmas" for digital release on home consoles, Mac/PC, and compatible iOS devices. The official game page's FAQ states "Other platforms may be announced in the future," but that likely refers to just Android platforms as it is a stretch to assume this will have a next-gen release.
No matter what, it's good to know Clem is back. Bring on the brilliant, tear-jerking, soul-crushing journey of emotional torment.
In other news, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct does not have any announced sequels because it was terrible.

I'm worried for this one since the two lead members of season 1 left the company, hopeful ly it will still be as amazing as the first but I seriously doubt it.
