E3 2013: Pokemon XY is Coming to Your 3DS Soon

Apparently Nintendo ran out of colors to use for their titles, but, nevertheless, Pokemon XY has been announced. This latest entry into the Pokemon franchise will be getting a graphical uplift and, for the first time, the series will feature full 3D models and environments rather than sprites. This latest installment also comes with a new Pokemon type, Fairy, which will become a new weakness for Dragon-type Pokemon. The new type will cause some old Pokemon to be reworked and, naturally, some new Pokemon will utilize this new element as well. Pokemon XY also adds a new mode of transportation: roller skates! ....yay? Finally, a new feature was announced called "Pokemon-amie" which allows players to pet and tickle their Pokemon to improve their happiness and mood. Adorable.

Of course, this next generation will feature new Pokemon, but just how many is still uncertain. So far, 19 new Pokemon have been shown off and, I will say, most of them actually look really good. Pokemon has always had some weird design choices with these colorful creatures, but the ones shown so far are very well done and don't resemble some of the rather odd designs from the last few generations. If Nintendo takes a page from Gold/Silver and puts in two continents with different Pokemon and Gyms, I'll be completely sold on this new entry. Pokemon XY will release world wide for the 3DS on October 12th.
