A nice surprise during this morning's Nintendo Direct was a new game from Monolith Soft, also known as the Xenosaga and Xenoblade Chronicles guys, presumably entitled X but referred to as simply "Monolith Soft" in Nintendo's video.

Whatever the title is, we're in for something pretty cool here. The brainchild of Tetsuya Takahashi, director of Xenoblade Chronicles, X boasts a large-scale open world which can be explored seamlessly. When the situation allows it, players can even hop in one of the cool-looking mecha and explore, fly around, and kill things.

And in the end, isn't that really all we want out of cool giant robots?

A specific release date for X wasn't stated other than "2014," but we know that- obviously- it will be exclusive to the Wii U.

Wonderful trailer and beautiful game but I don't see myself buying a Wii U for this nonetheless.
