Square Enix has taken another hit as Mike Fischer, president of Square Enix America, has left the company.
With the house that Final Fantasy built now hovering around its lowest stock price in five years and just on the heels of news that the company is down a CEO and $131 million, this departure joins what is becoming a long line of bad news for a company that used to be video game royalty.
As reported by Polygon, Fischer noted that he left Square Enix "on good terms" and neither he nor Square Enix PR have made a statement regarding the current state of the company and if that had a factor in his departure.
This is sad news, and it's hard to see such a titan of the industry slide into ruin. Their decisions as of late have been nothing short of puzzling, however; with gamers all but screaming for attention paid to certain games (such as Final Fantasy VI and VII) that has been paid to the endlessly re-released Final Fantasy IV, the very public demands for further Final Fantasy Versus XIII information, sales figures which do not financially justify the development of a Final Fantasy XIII-3, and the simple fact that it would be nice to talk about Square Enix games without Final or Kingdom in the title, one wonders why the customer base isn't really being listened to.
Like Microsoft, this will have to be filed under the "wait and see at E3" category, but there's no doubt that the company is truly in dire straits.

Looks like they need a Final Final Fantasy to save their company again.

Wow things are not looking good for Square Enix, hope we don't get another THQ debacle on our hands.

I don't know, I could still go for Kingdom Hearts 3 on a console.

You know what they say: the bigger they are, the harder they fall. I wonder how it will all turn out... Will Square rise from it's own ashes, or collapse from the inside?

Maybe Sqauresoft members (whoever's left) may leave Enix and reemerge and....
Oh who am I kidding. If they're falling this fast, expect a FF7 remake announcement. That's their fail safe.
Or FF7-2 or some BS like that.
