New games every week; every week new, sweet, entertaining, brain-rotting video games. So many in fact, that we often forget those "gems" behind during our end-year deliberations. Not anymore. Each week, I'll be highlighting my favorite game released; this way: the commenters have a target to flame, I have some notes for end-year headaches, and we all have fun!
Guacamelee has been on my radar since I first saw it two years back, during PAX East. It’s been a long-time-coming for this stylish Mexicana-Metroidvania, and turns out that time has been put to good use. Yup, I’m totally loving this game!
While Guacamelee lacks the driving-loot that makes exploring the nooks and crannies - typically found in this genre – engaging, it makes up for it everywhere else. Combat is challenging and also engaging, as is its platforming – especially when traversing between the “dead and living worlds.”
To my surprise, Drinkbox’s latest take on a Metroidvania, set in a Luchador-crazed alternate-Mexico, is not only charming and visually-interesting but also challenging, refreshing, and a blast to play.
PS3 and Vita owners, with a love for the genre, should not think twice about pinning this game to the mat.
(See what I did there?)
Till next Weekly…

This looks fun :) I'm going away on a trip soon and was even considering getting a vita for time away from my PC. This, sound shapes and Luminez are all games I'd like to play but I kinda don't wanna splash out the cash for a vita at the moment...
does anybody have a vita? I'd be interested in some opinions.
