Ratchet & Clank Is Getting a Movie, Here's the Trailer

Ratchet & Clank, the platfomer blow-'em-up with a legacy stretching back eleven years, is now getting a movie. Lucky for us, there's a strong chance that this one won't suck.

In a statement released on the Playstation Blog, the film was announced alongside the debut teaser and details which should give some hope were released. The film is being helmed by Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment, and if Rainmaker sounds familiar to you, that might be because they were behind the old CG television show ReBoot, which was awesome.

They were also the animators of Action Man and Max Steel, so these guys animated a large portion of my childhood.

More exciting, however, is that Ratchet & Clank creators Insomniac Games are going to "play a hands-on role with the film’s production, screenplay, character development, and animation consulting," according to the blog. Additionally, T.J. Fixman, the writer of all of the R&C games, is going to be behind the film's script. Not noted in the Playstation Blog post but still very admirable to me is that in the trailer, you can hear the classic voice actors of the characters present- no one was swapped out for Hollywood counterparts.

This is the kind of faithfulness to the source material we always ask for in film adaptations, and it sounds like when the Ratchet & Clank film releases in 2015, it may actually not suck.
