In case you haven't heard about The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, it's a first-person survival horror adaptation of the U.S. TV series that's loosely based on the Robert Kirkman comic book series. It has nothing to do with Telltale Game's award-winning adventure game adaptation of the comic books, sadly. Survival Instinct is being developed by Terminal Reality and published by Activision, and the game's producer Glenn Gamble has revealed to Digital Spy that the game will be released on the Wii U alongside the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC editions.
Talking about the Wii U version of the game, Gamble said:
We were over halfway through the project when the Wii U thing started coming about. We didn't want to change the game, because the game had already been established, so we tried to say, 'What can we augment with the Wii U version?' That's where it's basically a more elegant inventory management system. With the Wii U you have access to your backpack at all times, so you can tap what weapons you want, you can drop stuff. It's a lot more streamlined.
It seems perfectly possible that Terminal Reality will come up with a good survival shooter, but the timing and circumstances of the game's release aren't in its favour. The unprecedented success of Telltale Game's The Walking Dead, which was one of the most talked-about, acclaimed games of 2012, is a tough act to follow. The Wii U already has ZombiU, so a Wii U augmented inventory system won't help Survival Instinct stand out from its competition. Its fake fan-made trailer that made it look like absolute shite didn't improve people's already sceptical first impressions of the game. Finally- and I know I risk sounding like a broken record saying this, but I'll say it anyway- zombie shooters are overdone and people are starting to get fed up of them now.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct has been given a European release date of March 29th. Will it be a surprise success, or just a bland zombie game cashing in on the popularity of the franchise?

Have you seen the official trailer for this game? It is an amazing 19 seconds long and shows absolutely nothing:

Let's place bets on exactly how wretched this game will undoubtedly be.

Definitely the latter at what this game will ultimately be

Lot of Wii U games going for the "inventory" thing with the tablet. Hope they get a little more creative with time and remember some of the interesting things that came about because of the DS.
About the game itself... I'd probably prefer the Telltale game, but they might not have a Wii U engine ready for a while, so they might just wait for Season 2 of that if that happens.
