Irrational Games has released a Bioshock Infinite trailer that focuses on the history of the floating city of Columbia. The trailer is presented in the style of a 70's documentary, and is narrated by Alistar Bloom, a man who is investigating the disappearance of Columbia.
The city seems similar to Rapture, the setting for the first two Bioshock games, in terms of its concept and back-story. It might be in the sky and not the depths of the ocean, but like Rapture, Columbia is a city founded by a highly driven visionary that cuts itself off from the rest of the world with disastrous results.
In terms of its aesthetic and atmosphere, Columbia appears to be a far cry from Rapture's oppressive, claustrophobic interiors. Having said that, every glimpse out of a window in Rapture was a reminder of just how isolated the submerged nightmare you found yourself in was from normality on the surface, and Columbia's sky-high setting may create a similar sense of vertigo and distance from the familiar world. It will be interesting to see if any other parallels between Columbia and Rapture emerge.

This is now by far my favorite trailer ever. Simply very creative.

Really well done trailer. It's super creative, as Moom pointed out. It reminded me of the show Unsolved Mysteries. It was a fantastic way to introduce the city's lore. I'm curious to see more in the upcoming weeks. This might make up for the box art...a little.

Cool! Whereas Ryan disregarded religion, Comstock seems to exploit it. This trailer could be an hour long and I'd still watch it.
