Nintendo have announced the launch price for the Wii U, which is set to be released in the U.S. on Sunday the 18th of November, 2012.
Two configurations of the console will be available at launch, a 'basic' configuration that will be available in white, and a 'deluxe' configuration that will be sold in black. The 'basic' white version will cost $299.99, and the 'deluxe' black version will cost $349.99. The 'deluxe' version will include additional storage memory, and will come bundled with the Wii U launch game, Nintendoland.
Sounds like a reasonable price? While it's not as pricey as I feared it might be, it's the games that will sell the console to me, so we'll have to see what exciting announcements Nintendo have up their sleeve at their Wii U conference, which you can watch being streamed live right now. Hopefully it will be something more exciting than the prosaic-sounding Nintendo TVii.

As a fellow Brit Georgie mate I would have expected you to do the whole dollar conversion for me without having to google it. Poor show son poor show.

As long as it's less than 599 US dollars.

I already own 2 current gen consoles. i dont need another one that plays current gen titles and since i think nintendo exclusives are for kids theres no motivation there either (for me). I think ill just wait for the real next gen consoles next year. Other than true nintendo fans i cant even begain to fathom why anyone would buy this thing if they already own a 360 or ps3. Its not true next gen and i would be really fucking suprised if any developer makes a "next gen" quality title for it that isnt playable on the other 2 current consoles and because of that i dont see the point of getting one.

Still cheaper than any of the other guys at launch. Or any Apple thing ever.

Really had no interest in WiiU until Bayonetta 2 got announced. It's reasonable price for a launch but won't get it until I see what the game library looks like after a year.

There were rumors a while back that the system wouldn't come bundled with a touchpad controller. Are these rumors confirmed or does the $300 and $350 price tags include a controller? Also, are the controllers still going to be $100 to buy separately?
