Kojima Productions Unveils "Ender's Project"

To say that I never expected a new Zone of the Enders project to be announced would be an understatement. Last seen on the PS2 and seemingly filed away with forgotten franchises that under-performed but earned the support and admiration of niche audiences, a future for Zone of the Enders didn't seem likely. In case you missed it, Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner should easily be ranked among the best games on the PS2.

Outlets are reporting that Kojima Productions unveiled the first details and artwork for an as-of-yet untitled Zone of the Enders Project. Being referred to simply as 'Enders Project', very little is known about the project at this point but there is plenty of room for speculation. Below, you can view a snapshot taken from the event last night.

Rumors of a return for the franchise on the 3DS started awhile back thanks to a photo that was tweeted out by Kojima but nothing was every confirmed. Without a confirmed platform or title, it's hard to say exactly what Enders Project will be. While I hope that the game is in development for major console platforms, my guess is still that we will see the game announced for the Playstation Vita or even as a downloadable title. With that said, I never expected an HD collection for Zone of the Enders to be released. Perhaps this is a sign that Konami is trying to remind their audience of the series just prior to bringing it back in a major way on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Who knows, maybe we will see something concrete at E3 this year? All I know is that im pleased to see that Konami hasn't forgotten about the only Mech game that I ever really cared about!
