Dude, Brad, I'm about an hour into this podcast and your whining is insufferable. Yeah I get you think Xenoblade is overrated. But besides that, the game is pretty good. It's not an A++++ or a 10/10... but it's definitely not mediocre. The games on par with FFXII imo,

I pretty much agree with Brad. Xenoblade may be a good game (debatable actually, it has some glaring issues) but there's really nothing about it that makes it exceptionally better than the majority of other jrpgs that come out these days, and as a Xeno/Monolithsoft project it's rather lackluster. The review score discrepancies within the genre are absurd.

I can get why people dont like the game, its not to everybodys taste. But its definitely not mediocre. imo, I 'get' the argument of Brad. I'll just say I played this over 40 hours, and thats more than any 'traditional' jrpg I've played since FFXII (not including Dark/Demion Souls).
Imo its a game worth at least trying. The mmrpg combat mechanics are fun if you liked the combat in FFXII. Its enough to keep me entertained.
The irony is this game probably won't even sell as well as DA2 or White Knight Chronicles. Nobody I know plays Wii rpgs (or rpgs in general!) So its kind of redundant to bash on a game that reallly isnt that popular in the grand scheme.
Now ME3 on the other hand... that deserves a bashing!

I not a huge fan of Xenoblade. I haven't played it in weeks but, I don't think it's utter shittage. It's fine... JRPGs are weird, man.

Brad, it seems like you were just itching to tell people just how bad Xenoblade is. You say it's mediocre, but all the complaining about everything and lack of good things to say about the game makes me think that you think the game is actually abysmal. If you did have good things to say about it, it must have been after the hour mark because I realized that I wasn't getting anything out of the podcast. It's okay that you don't like the game, but the way your opinion came out as if you were just trying to find anything bad about the game to say and express moral superiority to other sites that rated the game much higher on those rating aggregate sites. And for the guy that played the game for 120 hrs, he obviously loved the game to some extent, which would have been a great opportunity to have a discussion about what he saw and what you saw. Instead, it's like he conceded his opinion and everything just became one-sided.
I'm one of those gamers that has played RPGs since the mid 90s with my initial exposure to games like Final Fantasy 6 and Crystalis. After that, I got games like Final Fantasy VII, Sword of Vermillion and Quest 64 (yeah, not all of them were good) and I've been seeking out good RPGs since then. Despite that, I have really enjoyed the 15 hrs I have played of the game so far.
The thing I like about the game the best is the atmosphere displayed through the graphics and music. Despite the Wii's processing limitations, they were still able to make huge, sprawling environments that allow us to go anywhere in the game, even off the bottomless cliffs. As for the music, I think I might need to get the soundtrack to the game cause I REALLY love the music.
I also like the battle system. Through sidequests, heart-to-hearts and even during battle itself, you increase the rapport of your team to yield the best damage. While a lot of other games have the whole "working together" theme going, it's more just separate avatars yielding damage together for a combo. The same thing applies with this game, but a team with good rapport does better than a team with bad rapport. The things that I can agree with you on here is that there is a lot going on with the battle system with all the buffs, debuffs, numbers flying around keeping up with the abilities that you and your team has. On top of that, it's not explained all that well unless you take another look at the tutorial, which is unfortunate. While there is a lot, I haven't found anything difficult to implement.
Overall, I have really liked what this game has to offer and think it's probably the best RPG I've played in the last generation. I say that, if you like RPGs and you have a Wii, then this game is definitely worth a shot!
