In the video embedded above, Arkane Studios’ Dishonored, a steampunk first person immersive sim, is shown off in motion to Gamespot. It is not a gameplay demonstration, but it gives a sense of the environments in the game. In the video, creative directors Raphael Colantonio (Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic) and Harvey Smith (Deus Ex, BlackSite: Area 51) share their thoughts on the direction they want to take the game. Topics range from player choice to handling morality systems to emergent behavior. Dishonored is planned for release sometime this year.

The idea of having a lot of freedom in terms of execution and going through levels in alternate ways always sounds amazing. But I hope they flesh out your relationship with the empress in the beginning, and don't simply plop you down into the world with some vague notions of regaining honor or revenge with map markers that lead to your targets. Only time will tell, really.

Not digging the artstyle, but it has sneaking, and it's made by the Deus Ex guy. I'm in.

you can really tell that half life 2's vehicle designer has his work all over this game.

its subtle but these guys are pretty cynical with regards to how they see their fans "we have all this cool stealth stuff in the game but most people are going to ignore it in favor of straight action" and "we have a cool dynamic hidden world changing consequence system thats deeper and cooler than most 'karma' systems but most of these idiots wont even notice"

I've got like Hitman: Blood Money expectations about this game. I don't want to get too excited without seeing gameplay though...
