I've heard complaints about the Final Fantasy XIII-2 soundtrack before. Now I know why. Here's an example.

The instrumentals aren't all that bad but my god, the other thing...

I started hating Invisible Invaders; but after a while, the song kinda grew on me. But I can still look at it and objectively see why the song kinda sucks. The singing/rapping etc. in a lot of 13-2's vocal tracks seems kind of emotionless and monotone.
However, I still maintain that 13-2's Crazy Chocobo theme is the great thing ever done with music by anyone ever.

Needs more Nobuo Uematsu. He's the man.

The only thing that bothered me was the song that plays when riding the red chocobos

I swear the first part of the song sounds like something you would hear on a demo disc from a gaming magazine.

I sparingly like the music in FFXII-2, but I feel like it isn't cohesive. Like some points you go from techno-y Pop-y to hardcore metal, JUST doesn't work.
But some of the music is so good. Its like Bi-polar disorder.

The only track I honestly like in XIII-2 was "Paradigm Shift". It was a good melo dramatic battle theme. Honestly the other songs are just pretentious.

The singing kills the ENTIRE TRACK

The version used in the game doesn't have the singing in, thank god...

Started off sounding kind of like a more up-beat version of the main theme from SMT: Nocturne... then they started singing.

Paradigm Shift was the few themes I liked in this game, a shame it wasn't used as the main battle theme.

It's an original soundtrack (no pun intended), people just have this mindset that if anything called "Final Fantasy" isn't exactly how they want it to be then it immediately sucks and has no positive qualities at all. Nobuo Uematsu moved on years ago, I suggest other people do too.

Only Shoji Meguro can get away with Engrish rapping in his RPG music.

That track with lyrics was never in the game as far as I can recall, only the instrumental version. Overall, the majority of the music isn't bad by any means. Most FF games have their good tracks and bad tracks, with the good ones outnumbering the bad ones.

This track I absolutely love, hands down the best song in the game in my opinion. This song to me is the Frontier Village Dali of FF9. Dali being tied with You're Not Alone as my favorite song from FF9.

Doesn't sound that bad to me, the rapping just makes it a little off.
