Two Player QWOP Released

Previously, I mentioned that a special 2 player version of QWOP was going to be at an event in Austin, and recently Bennett Foddy released it to people at large on his website. It is entitled 2QWOP.

Foddy mentions, “Modern computer keyboards don’t do well with pressing a lot of keys at once.” And it is true, you’ll probably want to use a second keyboard or map the keys to a controller to play against a friend.

It feels a little bit different from the older version of QWOP but I can’t really say much more than that given that I am equally terrible at them. Part of it seems to come from the strange feeling of having your fingers closer together in this version: One player controls their runner with the Q, W, E and R keys, while the other player uses the U, I, O and P keys. This configuration is better for trying to play on a single keyboard but it feels more awkwardly cramped than using the Q, W, O, and P keys.

The runner is reset automatically when you fail and the person who runs the furthest by the end of the timer is the winner.
