Trailer Talk Episode 14: The Soul Still Burns Edition from David Liao on Vimeo.
Brad and David this week talk about fighting games, an "homage" to Castlevania, and an interesting cover-based shooter. Also, Brad looses track of which episode we're on. Be sure to email him every Tuesday to remind him which number this week's episode is.

The only time I wanted to pay attention to the Story in Soul Calibur was back when I was playing chronicles of the sword in SC3 since it had a different story besides about a race for 2 of the world's most awesome swords. I enjoyed playing the demo of the 1st koumajou densetsu, although the character in the 2nd game seems to be my type. I was surprised when I fought the alucard looking character as a boss in the demo of the 1st.

The outro made me smile so much. As others have said Ibb and Obb looks fantastic. Hybrid looks like it could do some really great things as well,

Hybrid looks cool, but only pros control both their movement and aiming in a game, especially in a fast paced shooter. I guess it's good for consolers who can't do that as easily.

That was brilliant. Easily my favourite feature on the site.
Cheers.

Oh Wow..I can't believe Touhouvania 2 made it onto the 4playerpodcast site!!
Its an amazing game, the end boss is insane. I'm pretty sure you can get the full game somewhere on the internet. Touhou is a bullet hell game but there are PLENTY of fan made games of the series.

"Ibb and Obb is a cooperative game for two that will launch Q2 2012 on Playstation Network and some months later on PC."
Stupid consoles and their affect on PC release dates...

What Brad thinks about the Soul Caliber character design certainly isn't wrong. It feels really strange when I look at any one of the characters, maybe besides that jester girl. Strange because I shouldn't think that when I see a protagonist or his allies. The way they "didn't stop drawing" is also really similar to how the Dynasty Warriors franchise seems to be taking itself. Super flashy and perturbed... really surreal. It's too bad they're taking that route. '

I want to get a fighter, but not really sure which would be best.

They hardly mentioned Touhou, but then again, the Koumajou Densetsu series (or most of the fangames, for that matter) is hardly Touhou anyway. The characters and danmaku are here, but the tone and style are different. It doesn't matter much though. Since KD is so good, others can still enjoy it without worrying about the other stuff. Rather than being Touhou, it's just a good Castlevania-style game.

Ibb and Obb looks amazing. I love platformers and it can be a tricky genre to do something really new and innovative with. Only question now is whether or not you can play single player with an ai companion or not. It would take away a ton of fun from the game but at least be playable solo.

Why does it seem like Capcom needs to throw in a "fuck you" to Mega Man fans everywhere these days?
