The Star Wars Kinect title has been a topic of considerable disdain here on 4Player. Joseph alone has had some rather ugly words about the game in the past and the general consensus seems to be that we are all kind of "meh" about the title. Which we shouldn't be. After all, Star Wars used to be the go-to licensed franchise back during the 16 and 32 bit eras. Today's new footage of the latest Star Wars title, confusingly, doesn't seem to want to be either a good game or a bad one.
You really have to watch the footage for yourself but for those of you who are unable to watch the footage, allow me to surmise. What you would see is four different activities: lightsaber combat, racing, destruction and, ugh, dancing. Yes, you read that right. Dancing. As in Dance Central clone dancing with slave Leia jiving to cantina music. That alone is enough to make me want to beat somebody to death with the nearest blunt object but luckily the other three activities restore (some) of my faith. The racing sequence looks kinda cool but in the end just reminds us all how much we need a modern update to Podracer. The destruction sequence is what had my inner Kaiju-loving child's heart aloft as it gave players control of a rankor and let them walk around Mos Eisley destroying everything in their path. A Kinect-controlled Godzilla title? TAKE MY MONEY. ALL OF IT.

I really feel like I just watch the marketing checklist going down the line. The fighting looked kinda shoddy to me and the pod racing looked functional enough but it isn't anything that isn't just a reskinned Sonic Riders or various other Kinect race games. The best part is definitely Rancor destruction and makes me wish there was a way to make Rampage cool again. I won't even acknowledge the existence of the dancing.... just... no.

Great! Just what we've all wished for on those cold winter nights as we sat there staring at a collection of figurines, weeping in sorrow. Star Wars dance simulation, oh the joy. I wonder what other generous helpings of Lucas sauce awaits us in this tightly bundled package of Kinfected mini-gaming goodness. I say tear out the Rancor section and license Geo-Mod from Volition.

Man, Godzilla... just the best series of movies.
I really don't see any reason to get this game (or a kinect for that matter), it just looks like most of the annoying aspects of the modern star wars franchise jammed into one package.
I mean its just reminding us of what we -could- be playing (a good podracing game, a good destruction game, a good star wars game [jedi outcast], or a good dancing game [for those that are into those games])
