Lollipop Chainsaw's New Valentine's Day Trailer

Valentine's Day is still a couple of days away but Lollipop Chainsaw has decided to jump the gun and release its newest trailer today. We're introduced to the not-so-normal relationship between chainsaw wielding cheerleader Juliet Starling and "regular dude" Nick Carlyle. Unfortunately for the lovestruck couple a zombie takes a bite out of Nick's arm. Fearing zombification, Juliet decides that to save him he needs to be decapitated. You'd think amputating the arm would be the more logical approach but I'm sure logic is low on Lollipop Chainsaw's list of priorities. Now bodiless, Nick's still-living head can be used as a projectile weapon or attached to corpses for an extra helping hand.

Aside from a few gameplay mechanics involving Nick's head the trailer doesn't show a lot in the way of new enemies or bosses. This leaves me a bit worried about gameplay variety. Aside from maybe two boss encounters the rest of the Lollipop Chainsaw videos I've seen only show fights with generic zombies. I'm starting to wonder if this will turn out like Suda51's No More Heroes series, which had unique boss battles but less than stellar enemy encounters inbetween them. With release still a couple months away Lollipop Chainsaw still has time to prove otherwise.

Lollipop Chainsaw is due out on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in May for Japan. There is still no release date for other regions but expect it to be sometime around Japan's.
