Jack starts the show off strong with a guest rant about the developers of Amy. We discuss some pretty high-profile demos that hit Xbox Live this week including Azura's Wrath, the Darkness 2, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. One of those titles sends us spiraling into a heated conversation about some of the more questionable marketing ploys of today's biggest publishers. Max Payne 3 and Batman both make into the news this week and we share some of the more entertaining results of our recent community survey.

Downloading now, I can't wait to listen. By the way (and this is only going off of the Youtube highlight) Jack jacking the podcast is already the best intro this show has ever had. Or will have. Sorry, the show only goes downhill from here. :D

In regards to that first viewer question about highly destructible environments, I'm surprised you guys didn't mention Just Cause. But then again it is in the same vein of Saints Row. :)

I'm still a little fuzzy as to why Nolan and Brad disagree with the free Mass Effect 3 DLC given out for playing the Kingdoms of Amalur demo. For a game that I feel like is going to be really overlooked, the demo itself is going to need some help to get people to play it. I can people who may even like this type of game, but having never heard about it, just skim over the name and dismiss it like thinking it's some fantasy brawler type game.

By getting something free, it gives those people the incentive to at least try it out. From what I believe, there are probably thousands of people out there that probably only go on to check for demos for some really high profile games. It also doesn't help that the Kingdom's of Amalur is quite a big file to download. With my internet connection, it takes hours to download it I can see lots of people dismissing it a download just on that basis.

And I think Valve does something similar to this also, where they offer free Team Fortress 2 hats for playing up to a certain point in some free games or by preordering a game. They did it for the PC versions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Brink, and Fallout 3.

Though I know that the demand for TF2 hats is A LOT bigger than the crud they offered in the Mass Effect 3 DLC, it's at least something and should help in marketing at least, so I don't really see the problem. I have the feeling that Bioware has gone through quite a rough patch lately and people may be jumping down their throats at any possible thing to say they're doing something wrong. I'm not accusing Brad and Nolan of doing this, as there may be something I'm missing to their argument and am curious as to why this may be a bad thing.

Been following for a long time now. Love the podcast guys, but you really need a system that will prevent talking over one another. David in particular.
