What You Should Know About
- It's about bloody time: Alan Wake is coming to the PC in early 2012. I can only hope that an intrepid modder adds in the monsters from Amnesia.
- E3 is always exciting to go to but this year it is looking to be quite a bit more restrictive: the price for non-industry members wanting to get in to E3 2012 starts at $795 for a three day pass and goes up to $995 on April 23rd. Holy crap.
- This may have been the week of Metal Gear Rising but Hideo Kojima wasn't about to leave it at that as he said that an "authentic stealth MGS" is coming.
- Shigeru Miyamoto may/may not be retiring from Nintendo one day in the near/far future but that isn't stopping him from talking about the future of the Zelda franchise saying that he believe Retro Studios would be ideal for a collaboration on the series.
- Speaking of Zelda, series producer Eiji Aonuma told Official Nintendo Magazine that the franchise would probably use motion controls in all future titles.
- It appears for a few days this week that a new Valve alternate reality game had begun. Gabe Newell has denied this in an official email. False alarm people.
- Contrary to popular belief, the Tony Hawk game franchise isn't quite dead. A new title will be released next year using traditional controls and is a remix of classic stages from the first two Tony Hawk titles. This might be worth a purchase.
- Hard Reset, the great looking indie FPS title from earlier this Fall will be getting a retail release this March that comes with new singleplayer and multiplayer maps as well as an expanded back story.
- The Square Enix Members site was hacked this week. If you have an account there it might be time to change that password.
- The Team Fortress 2 Christmas update is here and, of course, there's a comic.
- A CNET report suggests that Don Coyner, the lead developer on the Xbox and Xbox 360, is not handling development of the next Xbox console. It may instead be handled by Emma Williams, the lead on the 360's most recent UI update.
