I bet you're thinking, 'Why not install my Skyrim to my HDD? Shouldn't Installing help with load times/looks and my overall experience with the game?". Well, not in this case. Not yet at least. It has been brought to gamers' attention that installing Skyrim infact DECREASES looks and graphics substantially.

As shown in this video:
http://youtu.be/fhHLuDL3DEA

Bethesda is aware of the issue stating on their official forums that,

"Skyrim uses a lot of dynamic streaming systems, including textures. We've seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up," "We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disk and when the game is fully cached (not installed). Skyrim makes heavy use of the Xbox 360 caching system, and caches over the normal course of play while in menus or interiors. This cache can be wiped when other games are played or when the user manually removes it."

Bethesda also mentions that a fix is indeed on its way and should be released with the next title update to the game.

I really don't care about graphics, If the gameplay is stable I wouldn't mind installing it and having some "bad" graphics.

Installed here as well and I was wondering why some of the textures looked a little bland. Good find.

I was wondering why Skyrim was looking not so well (excluding that it wasn't the PS3 or PC version).

it only affect the 360 version i assume...btw i did not know that the pc version supports 360 gamepad....i saw my cousin play the game on his pc with it and it seemed exactly like the 360. He can just quick save with a keyboard while using a gamepad too. Man i wish i got the pc version now...hopefully the patch comes out soon

I hope that update comes soon, but I'm still keeping it installed to reduce wear on my 360. I've already put in 24 hours of playtime, and I don't wanna shred my 360 just to get slightly better textures.

Its only been three days and I've already put in 30 hours. I dread to think what my total game time will show up as on Steam, by the end of next week.

From what I've read and seen myself, when you go into the menu and it blurs out everything, it'll still make all of the textures revert whether or not you have it installed most of the time. Just food for thought for those of you who're hesitant to install it.

    Weird.

I'm still more bummed out that there's no physics on dead bodies. Bear rolling, we miss you.

Installing it to your HDD gives you hand cream apparently.

I installed it and heard this bit of news as well. So today I uninstalled it! I don't really notice much of a difference, except there no longer are periodical "fall into the ground and enemy beats up my head" moments.

I installed it and the graphics are fine for me. After playing oblivion for the last week and a half I really don't mind. I'll gladly take the hit in graphics for better load times.

It all makes sense now. I was wondering why the textures looked so good from far away but kind of butt up close. Guess I should delete my install until the patch comes out.

hmm, I played it the first day uninstalled and then installed it the next day, didn't notice anything : / but in any case I can experience more immersion with-out the robotic noises of my x-box in the background, and the quicker loads

Good thing I still only have the original 20 gigabyte harddrive for my 360 and only like 2 gigs available at any time. That's a good thing right? Right...?
