DmC ScreenshotsRemember that game DmC? The one from Capcom and Ninja Theory that everyone is poo-pooing on? If you can't remember, it is the one that I consider to be one of my most anticipated games of next year. But why I am excited for this game despite all of the controversy and fanboy rage that has been floating around the internet is neither here nor there. Today, Capcom has released a series of new screenshots from the upcoming title and I think they speak for themselves. This isn't the Devil May Cry that your Dad knows, this is a whole different animal. Without rambling on, here are the screenshots for you to enjoy or rage over. So excited...

The setting and art style look cool, but I still cant get excited about this after seeing the gameplay in the trailers.

I dont look for extremely fast gameplay, I have issues with certain fighting games to spot what action I should do, but as long as I can keep attacking enemies in the air for long periods of time, and have a combo counter to the side I will dig this game. I've liked every trailer except for the very first one. The E3 one was sweet and so has been the TGS demo. I love twisted worlds and this is going to bring me more from what I desired to see in a game like Alice.

I do think the basic gameplay LOOKS good, but I'm still worried. The new Devil Trigger redesign really worries me, and Ninja Theory has said they want to make the guns "more useful". In my mind that just reads "overpowered". I want a Devil May Cry game to step on my balls, rip off my head, and eat out my soul, a la DMC3.
I need some more hands-on previews before I can get excited.

From the look of the art style and level design, this further solidifies my theory that DmC takes place in Dante's mind while his father Sparda is torturing him physically and mentally, preparing him, and unlocking his full demon potential.

This'll be my first DMC game, so I'll get to try it without really comparing it to previous iterations.

I don't know, ever since I saw the redone redesign, I've had a bit more hope. Also, that fantastic Glitch Mob trailer earlier this year. That was good. With the most recent trailer and these picks, I do have a lot more hope. I mean, Dante has a bit of a silly haircut, but his face looks really young. I could easily see this being a reboot or even another prequel, to where his strength is coming out and he has to face demons. The "devil trigger" isn't really the "devil trigger" that showed up in the other four, so if it is a prequel, it could still fit.

I love the architecture though, and I'm excited to hear the music. What has been shown in trailers looks good. I am, however, still worried about Ninja Theory. They are cool, and I expect a good story from them, something different than Capcom would do. I mean, that sounds great, they could probably do some nice cinematic cutscenes fitting to the series. However, gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. I remember hearing that some of the previous lead devs for DMC were helping them out with that aspect, but still. If they can't pull it off, then what is DMC anymore? Especially with Bayonetta around, I wonder if they'll try to compete and go even crazier than before(I personally feel that Bayo had a more fluid combat system than the DMC games, but opinions).

I think I will end up playing this game in the future, but I will be absolutely heart broken if the gameplay isn't good. DMC has a lot of good points, but that is what makes it stand out from the crowd. It needs balance, and I don't know if Ninja Theory can do that. I mean, look at what happened with DMC2, where they changed over several hands. The same people(I do believe) managed to get better with DMC3, but. If this doesn't go over well, I can't see there being anymore DMC games.

People need to stop worrying. I've been of playing DMC since 2001 and not once has this new DmC make me "rage" or worry about it. Calm down and just enjoy it. Enjoy that people are still giving a shit about character action games. Of course I'm into Devil May Cry for the style and atmosphere, while the awesome gameplay just happens to be a bonus. So, I'm probably in the minority, but who cares, I'm going to enjoy watching this game burst onto the scene. You control whether or not you like something. The game didn't make you "rage", you did.

I don't understand what looks so bad about this game and why they are trashing Dante's new character design so much to be honest. I mean maybe if the combat isn't as deep and diverse as the other games but there is no way you can tell that right now.

I hate the enemy design. I feel like I'm looking at Dante's Inferno screenshots.

I've never played a DMC game, and honestly I'm not too interested in jumping into this one either. Nothing against it, I just... don't care.

Unfortunately, the "hype" and "hate" for this game just totally died off. Which, in this case, is not surprising on both sides of the spectrum of this game. No one gives a damn about this game except for a couple of people. I, personally, really don't give a fuck about this game. One reason is that the game's plot and "Dante" does not coincide with the Dante we know and love.

All I've got to say is Ninja Theory's got one shot left and if it fails, then they fail to exist.

the enemy design is sad, makes me wanna cry what happen to the cool bosses designed we hacked and slashed in the previous game?
Looking forward to this game nonetheless

My opinion is still up in the air about this game. I'll say this. No 60fps, no sale. AND no Virgil, no sale. Enemies and character design still look dumb. And this flip-flopping from Ninja Theory, grow some balls. Sheesh.

So Ninja Theory has confirmed that this DMC will take place in a seperate universe than Capcom's DMC. Which means we may still get a DMC 5 in the future hopefully.

Jesus, Devil May Cry has shittier fanboys than Call of Duty. I would have just said 'fuck you' to the whiny asshats a good year ago.

I have been in support of this game since they announced it. The only concern I had ever had was the fact that Ninja Theory is very animation heavy and that doesn't mesh well with the fast pace action in Devil May Cry. For the most part the trailers have done a good job alleviating my reservations and these screens are gorgeous. I can honestly say I am eagerly awaiting the final product to see how it turns out.

I was gonna write a long and drawn out comment, but I wasn't sure what the character limit on wordpress is. So i'll just say this. I'm excited that we are getting a new Devil May Cry, but i'm worried it won't live up to it's predecessors.
