I have never touched a facebook game. My experience has been limited to rolling my eyes at friends addicted to Farmville and catching my girlfriend playing The Sims Social. While I have resisted these casual, free-to-play experiences with every fiber of my being, there is no denying the growing popularity of these kinds of games. With Facebook being such an integral social tool, I suppose you can't run forever. Debuting alongside the debut of the new season of Dexter is an all new facebook game: Dexter: Slice of Life.
Showtime has partnered with Ecko Code, a casual game developer who was responsible for the Dexter iPad game along with games based off of several other popular Showtime series. In an attempt to bridge core gaming with casual gaming, it appears that Dexter will be the first facebook game to feature third-person, stealth gameplay combined with various social elements. This is new territory for me so the actual detail surrounding the gameplay itself is a bit of a mystery but I imagine that "stalking and murdering" your facebook friends will be a key feature in the title. It has also been reported that the game will run alongside the new season which premieres October 2nd and will feature scenarios from each new episode and major updates every Monday morning following the episode that airs on Sunday night.
I normally wouldn't give this kind of thing the time of day but in my mission to absorb anything and everything related to Dexter, I will finally succumb to my dark passenger when the game launches in early October with the season premiere. Speaking of which, for any fan of the show who may have missed the debut season trailer, here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Still have to catch up on Dexter, only made it to the ending of season 2. Now my opinion of this Facebook game, well at least this may give the Hitman style genre some appeal and that is nothing but a good thing unless we get Hitman on facebook...

Let me get this straight. You're Dexter, you stalk people, kill them, cut them up, and throw their bodies in the ocean...and this is going to be on Facebook?
Interesting...
