After the release of that famed trailer for Dead Island, I let my anticipation slowly subside as actual details began to come to light. I know how crazy this sounds but I was burnt out on zombies. Luckily, I found myself finally watching the AMC series, Walking Dead and needless to say, i'm back in the game. After getting a little bit of hands-on time with the game at E3 and hearing Joseph talk about his private Co-op demo, Dead Island has catapulted to one of my most anticipated games of 2011. The game combines elements of Far Cry 2 (one of my favorite shooters... ever) with classic cooperative gameplay and then sprinkles zombies on top for good measure. While I certainly loved Left 4 Dead, there were certain things about the game design that didn't gel with me. Could Dead Island be the answer to the problems I had with Left 4 Dead? Only time will tell.

With just under a month to go before the game hits store shelves, Deep Silver has released a Co-Op trailer for the game depicting some serious zombie killing action. After the 'Call of Juarez: The Cartel'(also developed by Techland) debacle, I can't help but feel a little bit of apprehension but all of the footage I have seen lately has been solid. What do you think?

I can't tell you how tired I am of zombie games and just of zombies in general. However, Joseph's hands on co-op preview piqued my interest. I have a passion for co-op games and am willing to try most games when there are two or more people involved. It gives a comradery to the experience that allows you to either share a great game or commiserate on how horrible it is. There are enough elements in the co-op component that I'm definitely looking forward to it now where my previous outlook was apprehensive. And you can bet I'm playing it online. ;)

Probably my most hyped game of this year and that is obviously saying a lot with the shit load of games coming out in the fall.

I absolutely love these types of settings in video games. This AND Farcry 3, wow!

Was that really a co-op trailer? Not to judge so quickly, but I didn't even see that much gameplay in there, let alone co-op gameplay. Even with the reality of this situation, as people are being very skeptical with of Dead Island, I still can't help but want this game.

I want to buy it, I want to bash zombies around, I want to grab a battle axe and tear through zombehs with my friends.. you know? This game may be one of the few that transcends the expectations of the game industry with the sheer ability to have fun killing zombies with a bunch of friends. I'll be enjoying this game thoroughly, and hopefully I have some friends to do it with.

I hope that the fact that they are going to be compared to "Left 4 dead" forces them to put in some solid co-op mechanics, Rather the just having your friends shooting next to you like their last game "the cartel". Maybe more dramatic decisions like seen at the end of "left 4 dead's" "The sacrifice" this would also help deliver on the expectations people are getting from the excellent teaser trailer.

I'm actually looking forward to this game, I have had it pre-ordered for a couple of months now, only to have my expectation heightened every week. As I'm a huge fan of co op, so I would assume there will be many laughs, as well as screams, when this finally hits everyone's door step.

When I first saw the Dead Island Trailer I was excited. I thought that it really gripped the emotion of what it would be like if there was a zombie out break and just how devastating it would really be. Watching it now seems it's more on the path of any typical zombie game, you have the badasses that take over and do there own thing. I don't know, I guess I wanted a slightly more realistic zombie experience. Do I think this game will be fun? Sure I do, I'm a big fan of co-op so I think it'll be fun. Just not what I first anticipated.

    I don't know...

It's been sort of a roller coaster ride of emotions for me with this game. I was excited when it was first mentioned, but as more details surfaced, I became less excited. Now this trailer shows up and I'm a little more excited again.

There seems to be quite a focus on melee. I don't like zombie stories anymore, but it never stops me from playing something interesting. I'm not in the hype-mobile, but I'll keep an eye on it.

How does one studio release two games only a few months apart? Do they have more than one development team or something?

Hmm, do I want to play as the "X-Treme" douchebag with the mohawk, or the douchebag rapper with the gold chain.

    Some stank ass character designs.

Still hate the characters, they dont feel like apocalypse characters to me, i know they fit in with the holiday resort setting, but they dont match the apocalypse setting, not to me anyway

I like the trailer and I am a bit hyped but i hate how they have a nice and gory trailer with action music in the background and then they just throw it away with that dumb music at the end, they're are trying to make it their trademark but it only works with that first trailer.

I cant wait for this game to come out, however I think that its kind of too much like L4D with all of the different mutations for zombies. But the customized weapons sound great

I am looking forward to the game, but with the disappointment that was the cartel ( a game i had extremely high hopes for during the reign of skepticism towards it i saw) I feel this game could possibly end up with a similar fate, but only the final product will tell.

Gotta admit. I wasn't too amazed until I saw the truck run over the zombie. If this game is creative and the environment is interactive. Then this game is DEFINITELY going to be on my play list.

That first Dead Island trailer made me very interested in the game.
But considering that this is the same guys that made CoJ: The Cartel, I'm a bit worried.
But hopefully they spent more time with this game to get it to be better
