PAX 2011: Day 2 Podcast

I missed the live recording, so I'll be giving this a listen asap.

there's a bunch of games I have not heard of or not heard of since E3 which tickles my fancy...by fancy I mean anything thats not in or around the crotch area, preferably somewhere in the brain

I don't get why Brad is so down on scripted events. Games like Bioshock, Call of Duty, Portal 2, Uncharted, etc. are full of scripted events, and he seems very selective on when he's critical about them.

For example, when Wheatley picked up the hotel room and started moving it through the sky at the start of Portal 2, there was obviously no threat of you falling out and dying... but it was still an exhilerating sequence. One of his favourite games of 2009, Uncharted 2, was chock full of those scripted moments, to the point where Brad actually wrote out a list he was going to read off in his praise of the game. But now the scripted events in games like Modern Warfare or Aliens are bad, just because they're scripted?

great as always, but it seemed much quieter than most of my podcasts i listen too.

As others said the audio's a little quiet, but if I listen with headphones it's all good. But, lots of games I'm excited about in this podcast!

I'm really excited for Infestation, although I might pick it up when it's cheaper since I don't really play DS games. Also, I remember hearing that the marines have different abilities--if one with some skill gets killed, does another marine appear with that ability as well? Or am I recalling things incorrectly?

I'm even more excited in Colonial Marines, mainly because I just want a full-fledged game that feels like that particular movie, even though the whole LV-426 NOT being nuked from orbit irks me. Hopefully your guys' less-than-glowing impressions are just from being overly cautious. Given how long the game has been in development, however, I wish it was more polished by now.

About ME3: I think the Engineer has a double handed melee, so that might be the one Carlos was asking about. I'm disappointed how little Infiltrator is covered, since that's my main class of choice, with Vanguard as a second.

Also exciting: Prey 2! Sad reality in motion: I feel like I need to see an indie game visually to make a real judgment on it. And yeahhh I'm going to end this comment now.
