Hide works on atmosphere. It is a nightmarish atmosphere that is eerie and dark: the player character pants as they trudge through snow, a siren wails in the background, and spot lights shine into the sky. It heavily obfuscates things in the distance with an ultra lo-fi style, making the environment become a mishmash of darkly toned pixels. One feels lost but not unfortunately so. As the search for signs spread across the environment continues, lights appear. Even despite not being able to see what it is, the game makes it clear they are not something to pursue, but rather something to, as the name implies, hide from. Hide mostly obscures the facts with its aesthetic and that is what makes it so very alluring.

I can't find anything past "Rape" and "Persecution" signs...
The game is really cool, but it is really hard to find where you can and can't go. I can't tell if I'm being blocked by a tree or an invisible wall sometimes.

This is a great example of how graphics mean so little in comparison to atmosphere through sound design

Playing the game for the first time, the Look is a combanation of Daggerfall, Limbo, Deus Ex. The combination makes a suprising atmosphere. The lights symbolize what I was hiding from, I then had realized that I was actually afraid of the light, I found it stunning because I was afraid of the dark when I was a child and to be in a situation like in the game I found very unlikely that it would happen, I only found 3 out of 5 locations. What I didn't like about this game was that I couldn't exit when the program was running becuase I had the feed running and I had to ctr+ alt+ del and end the task if I wanted to get out, I didn't know what to do or if I could get inside the houses, and I felt there was nowhere to hide. In the end I liked it, it has a good atmosphere and good psychological situation.

Oh, cool, a game that works on my terrible MacBook. Let's give it a go...
*SPOILERS*
I'm not sure how to feel about this one. The atmosphere is definitely suspenseful, once you realize what all the sounds mean. I end up walking across the whole map with the spacebar held down out of fear at times. Even now I can swear I hear a faint ringing that's telling me where to go next. It took me several tries to find all five signs, but then I get caught every time afterward. I tried visiting each sign in order, as well, to see if that would change anything. Is it possible to escape after the fifth sign, or is that really the end of the game? And if that's it, then I'm not sure I understand what happened.
***BIG SPOILERS(?)***
What I've gathered from this is that I'm being arrested for crimes that I've committed, as told by the signs. And that there are other guilty people who got away...? Or that they're the criminals and the feds are after me even though I'm innocent? Call me stupid, but whatever significance the signs themselves hold (both in what they say, and in the fact that there are signs everywhere) completely went over my head. Of course, this could all change if that escape is possible and there's a different ending I still need to see. But until I know for sure, I don't feel like putting that much effort into this game again.
Hide is definitely interesting, and enjoyable in short bursts. It's aesthetically unique and pleasing, with the simplistic graphics and sounds enhancing the intense atmosphere by allowing imagination to take over. After a while, though, it just becomes a challenge of patience, and I've already spent plenty of time and frustration on this one for too little reward (so far).
