While Batman remains high on my most anticipated games of 2011 list, I have been trying my hardest to stick to my original media blackout strategy. Unfortunately, footage like this is too good to pass up. Rocksteady unveiled some of the gameplay that was demonstrated at E3 2011. Below you can view 12 minutes of mouth watering cat-fighing action, giving the public a really in-depth glimpse into the look and feel of this new, open-world Batman game. Enjoy.

While the combat still seems brainless, the on-foot navigation seems really nice, yet at the same time slow as fuck. Hopefully they debut more navigation vehicles, and hopefully something to fill in the open world besides random crimes to drive over to and beat people up for the whole game. Waiting for the Bat Blimp. Riding in style.

glad they did away with the knockout animations, looks better now than it did with arkham asylum and the goons holding their heads when they got knocked out.

This game looks great, added right beside Deus Ex and Bioshock: Infinite for my most anticipated games which aren't Skyrim/ME3, The Witcher 2 was on that list and it sure didn't disappoint. I'm expecting a lot of good things from the major games still to come!

Catwoman is going to bring a breath of fresh air to arkham city. It'd be nice to tyr a much more agile combat style and will also break up the game from getting repetitive or boring. Not that i expect it to be, but this is still a welcome change to the series

Wo, the reverse speaking censor through me way off. Looks promising though, might check it out once it releases

"two guns bitch!" and i am in love. the only thing i am worried about would be the kinda mindless combat, and the puns might get a little annoying after a while. but other than that i am super excited.

What is this "mindless" and "brainless" combat you all speak of? Arkham Asylum was known for it's well balanced and fluid combat and this sequel just seems to amp the ante. I really don't see how varied and fluid combat, though brutal looking, can be mindless.
Anyways, this game looks beautiful and borderline sexy. The graphics have been hauled up nicely from Arkham Asylum. Can't wait to punch out some baddies. :D

It's wet.

Look so good!
The combat is about Batman (or Catwoman, here), not so much your opponents. Letting the player do these awesome moves and making them feel like a superhero for taking out 6 guys at all part of the experience. It still requires timing and skill just the same.

Game looks amazing, and it's gonna be kinda fun to play Catwoman too (if I'm gonna make it through the bad puns and one liners she's got). but all in all. can't hardly wait.
one thing I noticed and not sure if it's in the game or not. Is there gonna be random encounters? like with saving that reporter in the first fight Batman got into. or something like Assassins Creed where you find someone being attacked by thugs. that would be interesting.

Combat looks so fucking brutal but being a Batman fanboy I hope the story lives up to expectations. Cant wait for this.

not used to swearing in the batman universe. Still waiting for a batman beyond game on this scale. Flyin' around future gotham in them jet boots :D

This looks really great and all but the combat looks less brutal than in the first game. There seems to be fewer takedown punches and the sound's more padded... I hope this gets sorted out for the full game.

I've always felt that I liked the first game for completely different reasons. I thought of the first game as more of watching a mature episode of the original animated series. And though the game was fun, it never blew me away. And to be honest, I don't know what to think of this new game either. I'm not saying that it's going to be bad, and I'm not saying it's going to be good either. I think I'll still enjoy it, but maybe again for the same reason that I enjoyed the first game. But I guess we'll see when the game comes out. If there's anything that I'm worried about, it's that again, this game might only revolve around only a handful of villains. And though it was probably for the best, I just want to see them go all out and I don't know if they will or not. But then again, I can't base my judgement of the game till the final product is released.
