The doors to E3 2011 opened at noon today and Ninja Theory chose this moment to launch their official E3 trailer for their upcoming action title, DmC (READ: Devil May Cry). I have been vocal about my support for this title despite the overwhelming negative response from many fans of the series. While i'm sure this trailer won't do much to combat those negative sentiments, I still hold true to my original opinions. A fresh take on this classic series is welcome in my eyes.

**As I am sure you noticed, Dante's trademark white hair is confirmed to make a return**

    Dat Glitch Mob.

Anyways, so far, it looks like it has potential. We'll wait and see.

I don't think it is nearly as bad as people make it out to be. This trailer at least shows that they are headed in the right direction in terms of style of combat. Now my biggest concern is will the Unreal Engine at 30 fps be enough to handle large groups of enemies and flashy particle effects? Maybe but we will not know until they get this thing closer to finish and are able to run it in the engine with the UI and everything else.

Some people seem to be very afraid of change. I'm into this, they've shown a tad bit of gameplay and it seems sort of fast and heavy. The gameplay is what matters so we'll see. I'm actually kind of digging the new Dante, he still seems cool enough.

I still don't know what to feel about this change.
I'm worried about the Ninja Theory gameplay, they've yet to come any where near 'deep' with their combat before. But, I guess they could pull a decent story out, and hopefully they have access to the tech left over from 3 and 4.

I see that he has white hair, His coat is more red than in the debut trailer. Combat looks kinda cool, however the enemies seem to look like dummies for you to hack and slash, but the setting looks nice. I'm wasn't as negative as most people during the debut trailer, I only played the 1st one all the way through and I perfer that one instead. I'll wait and see what else Ninja Theory will show.

No, this has interesting aspects. It is crazy colorful once the demons show up. I was annoyed at first because I thought the white hair was tied to devil trigger, but they seem to be going more for an idea of "dimensional view shift" or something, where appearances change, power changes because of what he sees and knows. I don't know though.

I want this to be fun, I want Dante to be funny. I loved the musical choice, because I do love me some Glitch Mob. Design shows promise, and even somewhat reminded me of Bayonetta. The combat shows promise and the slight change to Dante works. He looks stronger, less thin. I don't care so much about the white hair thing now, but I want to know how they are incorporating that as something important, because that seems to be what they are going for. I do think his hair is cut a bit silly, XD. I mean, really. Shaved on the sides and pointed on top? A bit silly on him, but meh. Makes him look a bit younger.

Now that we have some gameplay I hate it a little bit less. But I still find the meth look uninviting. This whole remaking the franchise thing is so useless, they should've just come out with a new IP. If there is nothing tying the universes together but the name and the game play whats the point? Why is this guy using a sword if he's no son of Sparda? In his modern looking world, are swords really the most readily available weapon, or is he just using one because Dante did.

Speaking of Dante, the whole White-haired Devil Trigger thing is so gimmicky. It's like Mark Millar in Superman Red Son creating a "whole different story" and then just littering it with references to the regular universe and going "hey look, did you see that? Remember him from the regular book!?"

If this were an IP, I think I would like it a lot. But making unnecessary changes to a series that was going strong is not good, especially if the changes don't work with the set story. This honestly could be cool but there's so much that just doesn't work with what we already know that it pisses me off. I like change but changes to gameplay, not retconning out certain details or changing them altogether.

Although I don't play DmC games at all other than once at a friend's house, But do ya think its a good thing that they let Dante have his trademark hair? I know its very iconic but does it really show the developers can stand there own ground when it comes to their products? Or maybe the game itself will be swayed from its own original form to a "Weak after-taste of the originals."

Anyway just trying to give my opinion, Please if i'm wrong of anything let me know.

    Uhh...What?

Not only did the combat looks slow and clunky, the animations were very stiff. Dante fought about 6 guys max at a time, and the only time he did face more they went to a cutscene to show him finish them off.

I am not impressed at all and feel a slight naught in my stomach.

It's got a nice visual style going for it. i got some tingles when I saw everything went black and white, his hair turned white, and then his coat became red. That said, I still don't like this new Dante yet. I haven't seen much from him, but he just seemed kinda boring on a personality level. Maybe it was because we couldn't hear his voice or grunts during the trailer but he just seemed way too....emotionless if that makes sense. If I had to make a comparison, he's reminding me of the guy in Dante's Inferno.

Of course, this is Ninja Theory, and as seen from their previous games, they can make some pretty interesting characters, so there's still hope, but as of now I don't think new Dante's very interesting.

I like this trailer, the combat looked kind of wonky at times but as the video stated its just work in progress gameplay. I've played all the dmc games and it's a beloved franchise to me. That being said I think people are over-reacting about changes, especially art or story wise. In my opinion DMC never had a really great story, it had some cool characters with great gameplay. As long as the gameplay is tight and fun I think it will be great to see what ninja theory can do with the story and characters. I enjoyed Heavenly Sword, and Enslaved was amazing from a story and character interaction view. The only thing i worry about is the combat but other than that I have confidence that Ninja Theory can pull the rest off.

Guys at ninja theory and Capcom said long ago that he was going to have white hair. You can even see it in the first trailer. Given its not much but really.

The combat doesn't look all the free flowing in the trailer though, at least not to the usual DMC standard. It might be just the problem with the character animation and such and could be easily rectified.

This whole thing brings me to a thought
It's a dilemma really when you want to make a game that strongly resembles an unique beloved franchise yet is inferior to it
If it's another IP people will say it's a shit clone
If it's a remake of that franchise people will b**ch about the change to the franchise.

Hopefully it will turn out better in the full game, but I despise Unreal Engine only because it tends to be better on one system and not the other.

So, in the original dmc games, when Dante activates devil trigger, he turns into his demon form. In Ninja Theory's dmc, when eurotrash/generic Dante activates devil trigger, he turns into his normal form with silver hair. lolwut.

I thought the combat would be terrible - this being a Ninja Theory game. But this doesn't look bad at all, even in these early stages!

I always get really nervous when I see a trailer that uses stock soundclips that I haven't heard since the N64 era. This trailer did it a couple times so that now makes 2 games from this E3 I was looking forward to which have done it. It makes them seem lazy in their trailers and makes me uneasy so i'm hoping, HOPING it's just a trailer placeholder sound.

Setting aside the issue of Dante's look, from a gameplay perspective, I am not impressed. Dante's moves look tough, but there's no flow- for me, DMC was about the rhythm of combat, and I just don't see that. Combat in Ninja Theory games has always been simplistic and a bit jerky, and the only real advancement I see is simple combos.

We saw the debut trailer and people said wait for gameplay to judge, now we've seen gameplay and people are saying wait for more to judge. Duh, it's a work in progress- it'll be a work in progress until it's in stores. That doesn't stop us from passing judgement on nearly every other game we get previews of. I'm reading the interviews and I've watched the videos they've released and I am, very simply, not at all happy with this.

So... He doesn't like his demon side in this game. In later games, he accepts the demon side. So I'm guessing that his human side is the black haired Dante. Then when he uses the demon power, he gets the white hair. Explains how he'll have the 'Devil Trigger' of the game and it explains how later on in life he accepts his demon side and always has white hair.
Cool, I'm actually excited to play DmC again. I didn't really like them after 1, but now I'm interested again.

Since it was announced I can't say i've been hugely excited for this game. Obviously i'll give it a fair shout and would need to try the combat first hand to know if the fighting was atleast enjoyable. As far as a character action game goes - i'm all the more excited about Asuma's Wrath. Again i'd need to play it - but i have more faith in cyber connect 2 to deliver an awesome experience much like they nailed in the naruto games then i have faith that Ninja Theory can even meet half the potential that was devil may cry as a series.

We might all be suprised - but from watching the trailer - this is no more or no less on my radar.

Why didn't they just make it a new character with a different name an backstory and have it tied to the events of previous installments rather than dicking with a character design that had absolutely nothing wrong with itself? :/

I find this more appealing so far then the inital DmC. DmC was ruined for me by rabid fans who geeked out and couldn't talk about anything other than dante dante dante dante. With the appearance change putting those people off, maybe more people will focus on what makes a game a game.

hey anon your wrong in this game he is half angel half demon not human so nj just got rid of the story of dmc. and white hair is just angel mode this game will have nothing to do with the previous devil may cry games unless this is a dream or they switch it to nero had a son and his power were mistaken for angelic power nelo angelo vergil doesn't exist
