During our 2010 awards show, I said my favorite new trend in the industry was the remastered, re-released, HD titles on the PS3. God of War, Sly Cooper, and Shadow of the Colossus have all received this treatment and it looks like Splinter Cell is up next. Ubisoft will be releasing the original Splinter Cell along with Chaos Theory and Pandora's Tomorrow on a single blu-ray disc on March 22, 2011 for $39.99. The release will also hit the PSN on the same day.

This triple pack has been rumored for weeks now and it is great to have confirmation finally. For awhile, I was worried that the games would hit the PSN and only be available for download because it seemed that the Prince of Persia trilogy was going to receive the same treatment. I couldn't be more excited considering I have never played any of the original Splinter Cell's and they have been on my pile of shame for the longest time. This also opens the door for the return of the insanely popular multi-player mode from Chaos Theory.

On an exciting side note, the Prince of Persia HD trilogy was also announced for release on blu-ray disc on the same day! That's 6 amazing games, up-scaled in HD for $80!

Can I get an amen?

Shame it's not on Xbox, loved Splinter Cell, the best Prince of Persia's in my opinion were Warrior Within and Two Thrones. I wished Conviction had the Double Agents Multiplayer, spies vs mercs. That was so unique and brilliantly done. Wish my PS3 didn't die. :(

This is pretty awesome news, even though I only got about 2 missions into Chaos Theory and never played the other 2. I might have to pick it up... I might also have to pick up Double Agent for a third time, after buying and trading in the 360 version twice.

HD remakes are my favorite blossoming trend of this generation. Im not nearly as excited for these games as I am for the Ico/Shadow pack...or for the rumored Metal Gear Trilogy releasing this year!

I'm definitely going to pick up these packs, as I never had the chance to play any of these games (raised with nintendo only). Its a great chance to make up all these awesome games I've missed.

HD remakes, boy, gotta love them. Instead of having a series that just gathers dust, re-release that shit in HD! Brilliant!

    AMEN! (a gaming religious one)
    fuck yes, splinter cell!
Nick, you should play Chaos theory, defiently the best Splinter Cell game of em all, not as trial and error as Double agent, and not as bland third person shooter Conviction^^

Fuck this year, now I can add 2 more purchases to my list and 5 more games to my backlog. I was never impressed with PoP from what I have played (Two Thrones and 08') I really want to see why that series was so popular in its day and now I'll have 3 stealth games to hold me over for that "other" stealth game collection HD re-release(that will hopefully wait till next year to come out.). Too many games and the year has only just started.

Absolutely can't wait to play through the Prince of Persia trilogy again, a few months back I had a urge to through them after playing Forgotten Sands but never got around to tracking them all down on the original Xbox.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd kind of like a remake to Double Agent, but only the older-generation version. The Gamecube + Original Xbox (Ubsioft Montreal) versions were much, MUCH different than the Xbox 360 (and probably PS3, I never played it) (Ubisoft Shanghai) version, and I think they were much better as well. The level design seemed more inspired, and it's amazing what they did with the hardware limitations that they had (I mean, in my opinion, Double Agent on Gamecube looks better graphics-wise than some low-budget 360 games). But of course we shouldn't judge games by their graphics. One thing to note is that the two different versions of the game have identical "between level" cutscenes. However, they fit much better in the Gamecube version. It feels like they originally made them for the older systems, and then out of nowhere Ubisoft got their Shanghai studio to make the new-gen versions.

    Opinion stated. Release the trolls.
