If you've been following 4player Podcast long enough, you may remember our Top 5 Dream Sequels. They were the sequels we would kill for, but knew would probably never come out. I don't recall if the list was written or recorded, but what I do remember is that Marvel vs Capcom 3 was near the top of my list. At the time, it was widely believed that this game had no chance of ever coming out. Capcom lost the license to Marvel and it had been almost a decade since the last entry in the series.

Back then, I fantasized about having Dante or Viewtiful Joe as playable characters. I can't believe this game exists, it contains the characters I've always dreamed of, and it comes out in a few days. To celebrate, I have posted footage of lots and lots of badass combos and general ass kicking. I can't wait!

My Team (as of now) is Team Kamiya: Dante, Viewtiful Joe, and Amaterasu kick some ass below.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to enjoy this game. I'm pretty awful at this fighting franchise, but I love character mash-ups. I spent countless hours unlocking everything in Marvel vs Capcom 2 on the Dreamcast, but now I hear most of the characters in the new game are already unlocked. Without good competition, I'm not sure how to stay motivated to keep playing. I'm not even sure that I really want to try and learn the game properly. All I know is that I want to play it. Hopefully my excitement will last.

I hope it does for you and goodness gracious when was this article posted?

For that matter, why aren't I asleep yet!?

Hmm... Anyhow, are you going to go for the regular version or the collector's edition? Though if it's the latter, I hope you preordered it quite a long time ago.

As for proper competition. I do believe that the game supports online versus modes, so there certainly isn't any lack of competition waiting to test their mettle against your own.

And lucky you as well, knowing your team. I'm still undecided on a few members... I do know though that I want to try out Arthur.

I've always wondered why Dante and Deadpool are fighting in a bar, and the bar is called "Deadpool & Dante".
My theory is that they opened a bar together, and they're fighting over who gets to decorate it.

Jill Valentine as a pre-order can piss off... Though I may just pick this up in a month or two at a lower price and use the money I save to buy Jill.

This is Day-one for me, for sure. 360 version. I expect some stiff competition from the 4PP community. I actually did a button-swap on the fightstick in preperation. CAN'T WAIT....

A lot of the trouble to get my friend to play fighters is because the characters are locked and you have to unlock them solo first. This generally met I had an unfair advantage over him which made me wish they were already unlocked. Incentive to play solo is never the real purpose of a fighting game, it's like playing Battlefield games for the solo experience, its not what you play it for.

That said, they probably have a few unlocks just to try and surprise people even though they get spoiled on the net after release.

The only problem about this game is the cast needs more characters, NOW. Bring in anyone, especially Gene and Megaman.

ive been hearing from vensito how broken....appearantly EVERYONE is in marvel vs capcom 3. looking at the gameplay, i know for a fact i'll never understand the complexities.

I have heard that dante plays similar to how he does in devil may cry so that may help if your really used to devil may cry's combat.

I've never been too good at fighting games but I've always wanted to get into them. Of all fighting games I've played I can safely say MvC2 was the most fun I've had with a fighter. Ever since this game was announced I've been hyped. Hoping this game will be the one to finally get me sucked in.

I'm not quite sure who I'll be using since I want to try them out first but the characters I'm interested in are Amaterasu, Hsein-Ko, Taskmaster, Spidey, and Deadpool. Hoping for some Frank West and Phoenix Wright dlc down the road.

I'm kind of disappointed in the alternate color palettes because I know capcom will be releasing at least one or two DLC costumes for each character. I really like Wesker looking like Vergil though.

I remember back in the days I would buy strategy guides and learn every fighting game character inside and out. These days I just don't have the time. But from what I hear,MvC3 is more balanced than MvC2,more accessible, and the execution of combos isn't as difficult. It sounds like they're going more casual, and I'm perfectly fine with that. You're bringing in fans of Marvel Comics and Capcom's non-fighting games,so you want to give them a little leeway.

I'm gonna have to make my team center around Jean grey, Ryu, and Taskmaster with variations of that main team (Also interested in the Bionic Commando guy, MIKE HAGGAR, Trish, and X-23)
The game should only take about a week(A week filled with actual other life activities) to understand all the complexities of it. probly another week accompanied with online FAQ tips to become a master.

It looks wonderful, can't wait. Have the collector's edition nearly completely paid off. My main team'll probably be Joe, Captain America, and Spidey, but I'll probably play some of the characters to see who I like best... Definitely Joe though.

Got an early copy, been playing it, and running X-23, Dante, and Amaterasu right now. X-23 hurts my hands though, her BnB's require such fast button pressing even with a crab grip(using index, middle, ring for ABXY) it gets difficult after like 15 minutes or so lol. Already learned basics with X-23 and Dante, so right now the only character I'm very bad at on my team is Amaterasu.

I haven't played the game as of yet, but right now I'm leaning toward using C.Viper, She-Hulk, and Phoenix. Maybe swapping in Chris or Super Skrull somewhere. But I like the looks of almost all of the characters so far.

I was gonna pick this up, until I realized a few things:
    1. This is too similar to Tatsunoko VS Capcom for me to warrant a $60 purchase.
    2. No Carnage...Nuff said...

Well, I've been excited too, but I don't think that I'll get a chance to play it. No money, college fees and already bought Nier. Which is depressing...however...

I really love the characters. I mean, sure, if there were more of certain Capcom characters already in the game, I'd be even happier, but my all time favorite sun goddess is already there. I decided when they announced Amaterasu that I would own this game, some how, some way. I love the way her combat has shaped up for instance. Overall, I'd love to play all the characters, since they all have some really cool and unique play styles. But still, using Arthur looks like it's more for...mean people. Constant projectile hell, there.

I'm pretty sad that there isn't much unlocking of characters, but of course, the storyline and whatnot might be fun, and one of the things I truly love about fighting games is playing against friends, side by side. That is what I love and one of the big reasons I get enjoyment out of fighting games.

.....Jesus. I guarantee the following method will make you win 99% of the time:
Team setup: Pheonix(NOT on point) and whatever 2 other characters you're good with.
Fight well through the match and don't use a single hyper combo. Once you have 5 hypers saved up switch to phoenix and play as best as you can until she gets K.O'd initiating dark phoenix mode. Immediately tag her out. Manage to get at least one meter built up with the other guys, then whenever you wish(hopefully when the other two are dead) switch to pehonix and use her life absorption super and quickly activate X factor.

Result: Dark phoenix now dealing even more catastrophic damage. It will be impossible for the enemy to close in on you since you'll be spamming the hell out of themm and if they do, they'll have their life drained from your constant absoprtion field hypers.

So basically, Imagine David spamming with MODOK times 100 except it's actually lethal.
