I skipped over Radiant Historia when going down the list of DS releases for 2011. I heard this games was pretty good, but I didn't know a lot about it. But after watching the preview below and doing some research, this is now one of my most anticipated RPGs of the year. It's a shame that more games like this don't come to consoles anymore. Oh how the times have changed.
The team is composed of both people who worked on various Shin Megami Tensei games as well as former members of Tri Ace. The music is composed by and absurdly talented Yoko Shimomura (Street Fighter 2, Kingdom Hearts, Parasite Eve), and the battle system seems tactical and fresh. But perhaps the best part is just how much this game reminds me of all the time quests from Chrono Trigger. Radiant Historia has a great 16 bit RPG vibe going for it, and I've been craving just that. February can't come soon enough.

I have not heard of this game until today but I must say color me interested. The time travel mechanic seems to be well done, but I don't really like that fact that you can redo a serious choice if you don't like the story outcome. For example making a decision that results in a character death(even if it feels like the right one). You can just go oops and fix it.
The only other problem I had was seeing this just made me drool at the thought of how great it would look with HD sprite work.

Wow, now thats a definite must-have for 2011. You can just imagine how compelling this would be if it was released on a console with the budget of a AAA title... kind of makes me sad to see where the priorities in game-development lie nowadays.

First time hearing about this as well, and it looks great! I cannot wait to get my hands on this game when it comes out, hopefully the timeline system is not overly complicated, and hopefully multiple endings make their way into the game instead of constantly making mistakes in a timeline and going back to fix them.

I was very interested when I first heard of it a few weeks ago.
When I heard that the former Tri-Ace members involved in development also worked on Radiata Stories, I knew I had to get it.

This is why I love 4PP, every now and then someone introduces me to a game I had never heard of. First Valkyria, then Yakuza, and now this looks pretty cool.

Hmm, time travel you say? AND a unique battle system? ALRIGHT!

holy crap man, this looks really really good. Time travel where u can keep going back to see different outcomes is insane! ive always hated time travel games where u can only go through time once and never go back and fix something.
I'm getting this for sure. Thanks Brad. I probably would have never even heard of this if you hadn't made a post.

Thank goodness I have a DS.
I like the idea and the gameplay and the hook but I don't like the setting. Too many RPGs think SometimeMiddleAges, KindaEngland are the the only places political intrigue matter. Plus I'm tired of forest bandits and Princesses who are secrelt ninjas are something. But the fact that Atlus makes it and everything can allow me to over look the setting.

The english translation is sure to have some oddly entertaining references to older popular culture items and whatnot... I do believe there's an article laying around somewhere pertaining to one particular screenshot which in turn refers to a song that was present in the 80's/90's...
