It seems She-Hulk and Zero weren't the only new characters to be announced today. Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath are also going to be making their way into the roster, though not in the way you'd think (or want). A quick look over at Gamestop's website shows a collectors edition available for an extra ten dollars on top of the usual asking price.

Those who decide to shell out the cash will get access to Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath. Everyone else will have to wait four weeks before the two are eventually released as DLC. The download price for those who wait is currently unknown.

Here's the full package:

    • Steelbook case featuring exclusive art work

    • Comic/Art book- A 12-page prologue comic, written by Marvel writer Frank Tieri, plus campaign art and a curated selection of fan art.

    • 1-month Subscription to Marvel Digital Comics, providing unlimited online access to Marvel content

    • 2 Playable DLC Characters – Shuma Gorath and Jill Valentine. Content is available 4 weeks post-launch.

This information alongside the recent reveal of She-Hulk and Zero further cement the authenticity of the leaked character list. We'll have to wait and see if there will be any actual surprises in the coming future for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

Day 1 DLC truly is a nightmare for consumers. People have got to stop supporting this crap, I'm definitely not.

Ah the good old days when developers actually gave you all the content in the actual game. Now it seems everyone is trying to make a quick buck anyway they can. Who can blame them? with development costs going up and up.

Looks like they're avoiding the "unlocking character" method in game and decided to go the lame way to get more characters. Capcom's DLC methods are fucking HORRENDOUS, since all it is a "key" (as small as a couple of megabytes in space) to unlock someone that's already in the fucking disc.

If you want to advertise with Gamestop then you gotta give them something to sell.

I just hope this means it will be free afterwards, just a hope though.

dont support this guys....not even for the 2 characters coming out on DLC...i mean are they even going to be good in matches? doubt it. Capcom are always coming out with this DLC crap in a lot of their games....remember the shitty Dead Rising 2 DLC that had maybe a lil bit added to the story, but overall could of been in the real game?

... You are kidding me. No no NO Nooooooo. *sparks and turns into evil GLaDOS*
Good news. That was the "we're a good company" core Capcom put into me to keep me from flooding their headquarters with a deadly neurotoxin. Let me warm up my deadly neurotoxin emitters...

In all seriousness, though, Capcom should stop this bullshit. It's getting annoying and I'm tired of them. All things aside, the stuff your getting DOES justify a 10 dollar hike on the Collector's edition. But TWO characters? Please. For that price, we should be getting Barry Burton, Leon, Claire... ALL of the RE characters not in the game so far... plus some of the overlooked Marvel characters. But no. Goddamn it, Capcom.

I can honestly say I saw this coming...
There is no excuse for DLC though. Everyone should be there right from the get go, greedy son of a bitches.

You have the 360 which use dual layer DVDs and the PS3 which uses Blu-rays. Both can EASILY fit well over 300 characters if they so wish, but no, they make 40 something main, probably some unlockable (big probably), and the rest as DLC.

    fucking capcom.

I might be willing to shell out for the collector's edition if it were the older Jill Valentine design. Something went horribly wrong in the transition to RE5.

Seriously, I used to look at Jill and think, "oh, what an original and interesting character design." Now it's, "zero-suit Samus looked terrible before her nose job."

    # 2 Playable DLC Characters – Shuma Gorath and Jill Valentine. Content is available 4 weeks post-launch.

If you hadn't noticed, this isn't launch date dlc. This is akin to Blazblue's whole $8 a character deal. I just hope that the characters are more "budget-priced"

I'm willing to justify the $10 to get the CE and extra characters on one condition. If I own the dlc, I want to be able to play with people that don't have it. If you look at Dead Rising 2, you weren't able to play with anyone that had the pre-order costume packs unless you scoured the XBM or PSN store and found the free compatibility packs.

What really bothers me is Capcom will probably attribute the extra sells of these special additions to the DLC characters meaning more DLC crap and less swag.

This is the problem with Capcom. They're taking stuff out of their games, that's on the disc to use as DLC and to keep them locked. They did it with RE5 on Vs. Mode and it seems they may be doing that with this. Capcom, get back to your roots and stop screwing your customers/fans over. You started it with Resident Evil Outbreak split into 2 games, and you're still screwing over people that loved your games.

That's crossing the line. I'm curious how they'll go with future titles. Yeah we'll give you 2 characters and you have to buy the other 20.

I must have been looking at the wrong list. I don't remember seeing Zero, but I do remember thinking "Really? Tron Bonne is the only Mega Man character?"

I dunno. I mean, for an extra $10, this is essentially collector's edition. It isn't that horrific.

I don't like DLC. Not at all. Mainly because I can't shell out the extra money or easily access the internet with my PS3. It's a hassle. I mean, I wish that this was just an extra thing with the collector's pack and they would put out the two characters for free online at a later date. I mean, that would be cool. But I know they won't do that.

But hell! For the extra $10, there is a lot of cool stuff that I'd enjoy owning. I would think that the DLC characters are negligible in comparison to the cool comic book stuff. I have parents who love comics a lot that would be interested in getting the extra things if I could get this. I like comic books too, but think about it. You could get yourself the game and then give some extra things to people as gifts if you might not like Marvel. It's cool. But the DLC thing doesn't help.

I am disappointed. That said, I am also glad that Zero made it into the MVC3 roster. Believe me or not, he alone has sold me for this game (with the help of Dante I guess).

This is one of the many ways Capcom just bluntly tries to fuck over its fans.
