It is officially official. Games that sell like shit or are received poorly by both consumers and press alike have a chance for a sequel. Enslaved 2? Vanquish 2? Singularity 2? With a single declaration, Bethesda has given me hope. WET was among one of the worst third person, character-action games I have played in recent memory. It wasn't the concept or the character that turned me off. In fact, the character herself, while rather one dimensional was charming in her own way and the grind-house vibe that permeated the game was a great fit. Unfortunately, that is where the positive commentary has to end. The game was plagued with awful control schemes and terrible camera direction. What's worse is that thanks to some troubled development and hand offs between publishers, the game felt like it amounted to a mere fraction of it's potential.
As of today, Bethesda has officially announced that WET 2 is currently in development at the newly named "Behaviour Interactive." The studio is merely a re-branded "A2M" (yes I know it's dirty) studios. No details have been revealed but I can't help feel a glimmer of hope that I might actually get a game worth playing this time around. Perhaps without the troubled development and the complete focus of the team and the full support of the new Bethesda publishing powerhouse, Wet can become a competent action game worthy of respect. Whatever happens, it is nice to see that one bad apple didn't spoil this IP's chances of success.
Of course, this team hasn't exactly proven itself in the past with games like Naughty Bear and a bevy of lack-luster licensed games and second rate ports on inferior platforms (Dante's Inferno on the PSP says hi) so the chances of WET making a comeback is bleak at best. If the focus is placed in the right areas and the detractors of the original game are acknowledged and addressed in some form, this game has the chance to achieve mediocrity. On a side note, If Eliza Dushku doesn't make a return, I might have to skip the game all together. Do it right this time. For now though, you at least have my attention.
Thoughts?

I see potential in the pun "Wet Too"

What about MOIST?

I have a feeling that this is going to go the route of Red Steel 2. While we know nothing about the sequel, the first has left enough of a stain to effect the new game. Having the Wet name attached to it is already detrimental to the sales. They would be better off refining the system, making it competent, and slapping a different name on it.

At times I have to wonder just who had to blow who to get projects like these going?
Guess sometimes it comes down to giving people a chance, even if everyone knows its a slim chance of things working out.

You know, this is the reason I'm excited about Shinji Mikami's new studio being bought by Zenimax/Bethesda - they fully support the studios they own and their respective development teams. Shinji's Tango studio is going to get the same treatment and respect that Zenimax gives to all their other partners, if not more.

Guess we know what "Tango" is working on

Y'know... Shinji Mikami works for Bethesda now too... what if we were to see a rocket-boosting Eliza Dushku look alike in the next WET?

It's not the best way to start my posting replies to 4PP posts (hi by the way - long time listening of the podcast and yea - you guys rock) but I actually feel compelled to say I enjoyed WET. Sure it was rough around the edges but I feel that was all the more forgivable when you consider it was trying (and I find in some respects succeeding) to emulate the whole grind house ethos. I think the proof of me enjoying the game can be displayed by saying I played through this game twice in a row.
The potential for a sequel is there, whether or not they deliver is another matter sure, but we should perhaps wait a while before all taking a joy ride in the ‘we hate wet’ van.
The red and black stylised levels were awesome, the soundtrack is still on my ipod every so often and the whole world is there to expand on and improve. So I’m going to say here’s hoping for a great sequel.

Hey, don't forget Naughty Bear 2. That's even more of an unexpected sequel.

This game having a chance? I like when you make jokes Nick

This game actually sold well enough to merit a sequel? Who knows, maybe the sequel might even be good...

Really? A game with no elements that define it or make it special is getting a sequel yet games like alpha protocol which actualy have promise get destroyed the first sign of poor sales. What is this world comming to.

Hmmm, I don't necesssarily know much about this game. However, I have heard people around my school say that it (Wet) is a good game.
Then again, I have no idea. So maybe, the sequel are for the people at my school whom enjoy this kind of stuff.

The game had some pretty lame gameplay, however I was still driven to beat it solely for the music... and Rubi. :3c
Hopefully they learned from their past mistakes and make this sequel much more bearable and also supply us with even more great tracks. Also, let's hope for more unique over the top sequences like when you were free falling from a plane in the first game... and an ending that didn't suck so hard.

When I went on here to check the latest news, I couldn't believe I saw this post. Wet 2? WET 2? WHY!!!
Wet has to be one of the worst games I've ever played. The story aspect was pretty simplistic that used the whole "Grindhouse" style to over-hype the game that actually kind of didn't take advantage of the Grindhouse property all too well, apart from showing static-like graphics at certain points of the game and really old commercials. Now don't get me wrong, I actually did find those things appealing, but the whole emphasis on most things that are Grindhouse themed are suppose to be really over-the-top and/or absurdly weird, and I just didn't get that vibe from Wet. The game really felt like taking that trend and just using it as a crutch to make it seem so much better than it was. Now I don't mind simplistic stories, heck I can forgive horrible stories, but when it's combined with other factors that make it even more worse, than you got a recipe for disaster.
When I first heard about Wet, saw footage, and heard the things that Bethesda said you can do in the game really made me hyped to play it. Unfortunately, the gameplay didn't quite promise what I was expecting, and the game felt very plain and unsatisfying. Early on, the game was presented in a way that Rubi was an acrobatic, gun shooting, sword swinging badass, and what Wet delivered was all those things but nothing that was revolutionary or as fun as other games that do the exact same thing but better.
When it comes to acrobatics, Rubi is capable of swinging on poles, sliding down ladders with just her legs, sliding on her knees, etc. The problem with these things is that either they were unnecessary such as ladder sliding (even though I am aware that it was for more stylish gameplay and to shoot enemies while going down), or very "blah" like the slow-motion jumps and diving. Slow motion action in games is certainly not something we haven't already seen and this game doesn't do anything new with the formula. I was also under the impression that Rubi was capable of performing ridiculous combos by chaining the kills you got with the different stunts you pulled off. The problem with this idea is that it isn't implemented in the game very well. First of all, there isn't much variety in the stunts you can pull off, apart from Rubi's initial moveset. The end result is Rubi running on wall and shooting someone, or Rubi sliding on the ground and shooting someone, or Rubi jumping off a pole and shooting someone. Sure this game introduces some interesting features like sliding on your knees which I did find fun, but I didn't get the sense that I was in complete control over what I did and the lack of variety on how I could pull off crazy kills made the gameplay underwhelming.
Perhaps one more point I could mention about the game that was incredibly infuriating was the supposed "final boss". I thought that I'd be going into it with guns blazing, jumping all over the place and kicking ass. What

So huh. Wheres Bayonetta 2? You can make a sequel to this. A game that almost no one bought OR remembers but Bayonetta gets nothing.
What the crap.

I really enjoyed the first one. Did you review it? I wanted to find out your opinion. It grew on me the more I played it and the better I got at linking together the wall running and sliding and stuff. But yeah I hope this does start a trend were less popular games get sequels. I'd like to see Bullet Witch 2. I know everyone thought it stunk, but I think there is a lot of potential there. Enslaved 2 is a must. I'd even like a Heavenly Sword 2. I hope to hell Microsoft give the go ahead for Alan Wake 2. Heavy Rain 2 would be nice. Mirror's Edge 2 would be good. Velvet Assassin 2 could work, they could be like Bioshock with a different character and setting but similar style. But yeah Wet 2 I'm going to get it day one. :D We need more games with female leads.

"Damp - That stage where what your wearing is wet, but your skin is dry and it's really quite arkward and unconfortable"
That's my best shot.

Does this mean i have to wait longer for elder scrolls 5?

I can believe that there will be a WET 2. What I can't believe is that there is going to be a Naughty Bear 2.

'Charming' is never a word I'd personally associate with a stroppy, arrogant bint like Rubi...

I hate Bethesda
They green light this shitty game but no Elder Scrolls 5 official announcement? You know what I don't trust Bethesda anymore with making ES 5. Bethesda has become too big, alot of companies that reach this size start losing levels of quality that made them a hit when they were climbing up the ranks. Bethesda is more concerned about being EA than focusing on their in house talents. Hey how about some patches for Fallout NV? Hell it's an awesome game but they should've spent a extra year debugging and playtesting this thing. Man Bethesda is a pain in the ass but just like when Metallica released Load I will always love their older releases. (love Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall, Arena, Fallout 3)

I loved the idea of Wet, have a cool 3rd person grind-house shooter. It was full of bugs and had really crappy gameplay, but maybe a WET 2 will fix all these.
I already beat the game on "Female Fixer" and it was pretty much easier...
So, WET isn't crappy, its Sexy...if you bit**** don't like the game? WHY DID YOU BUY IT?!?!?!?!?!?!
Well...if you don't make a WET2, YOU'LL (maybe) regret it!
Well...if you don't make a WE- Oh wait I already said that...
We- erm...
W...?kaka
But make Rubi Malone have different clothe... Like..herm..here
Shoes: Same pair as WET 1
Shirt(inside): Make it alittle smaller...
Jacket: Same pair
Tattoo: Same one on her arm, but put another tattoo on her knuckles
Hair: Alittle longer, but the same
Voice: idk Eliza has her voice...
Face: Same
Gun: Same
well...yaa 'bout it
