The annual VGA's have become the essence of what many gamers strive to avoid in this industry but one thing is for sure, it has become THE place for major publishers to announce new titles to look for on the horizon. Last year saw the world premiere of games like Batman: Arkham City, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and True Crime and this year looks just as promising.
There are plenty of things to look forward to on Dec. 12. The reveal of Guillermo Del Toro's collaboration with THQ, a new major release from Sony, Batman Gameplay but it is Activision's cryptic teaser that has caught my attention. A teaser site, entitled: "Murder Your Maker" popped into existence earlier today which depicts a dark clothed, bald man staring longingly at a bulletin board covered in newspaper clippings. I'm not sure what it is or what it means but this is the kind of stuff that usually gets me excited (and then disappoints later when it turns out to be a teaser for the next Call of Duty).
While details are certainly non-existent, there are a few things that we can take from this:
- This is NOT Hitman 5. Notice how I mentioned ACTIVISION posted this.
- This COULD be a new IP. (BUT IT'S PROBABLY NOT)
- This MAY be a teaser for a sequel to Prototype.
- This COULD very well end up being the next Call of Duty (a la Sledgehammer Games).
- The rumor that it may be related to a trademark for a title called "Bloodhunt" might have been debunked from Kotaku earlier. [Source]
All I know is that I personally am hoping that Activision is about to pull the curtain back and reveal an intriguing new IP. What do you think? Did you notice anything about this teaser that suggests something else entirely? Let the guessing begin...

I doubt it, but it could be Bungie's next game... Nothing points towards them, but you can't rule it out.

1 more reason to watch the VGA awards! Sounds like it's going to be a great show.

you forgot to add in "Its not hitman" :p
but really though, I wonder what this game could possibly be.

"Murder your maker"
Maybe Mr Baldington is looking to kill his father by piecing together newspaper articles with stories he was involved in.
Or he's trying to kill God.
Or maybe it's a vampire game. The word "Maker" is thrown around a lot in vampire flicks and TV shows and references the vampire that made another vampire a vampire(True Blood).
Or it's just the next Call Of Duty game and Activision's marketing team got bored, felt like being mysterious and spiced up the teasing-part for this annual campaign.

Good chance it's the next Max Payne game (does Activision even own Payne) seeing on how the main character was revealed to be bald now.
...Or was it bald-ing?

I'll stay with the fact that is a sequel to Prototype since what the dude is wearing is a Hoody...but idk if Alex Mercer is bald o_o

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Activision is announcing a new IP. It sounds like a stretch, coming from Activision of all people, but I think they're starting to realize that only ever releasing the same two games over and over isn't going to work forever.
That said, it'll be a very "gritty and realistic" first person shooter, meaning the contrast will be jacked, colors will be indistinguishable from regular gray or brown, and the story will likely either involve an ex-spy gone rogue (now trying to "murder his maker," meaning trying to bring down the people who made him a super awesome spy dude, a la Sam Fisher or Jason Bourne), or it'll be a revenge plot something along the lines of a Max Payne game, since they can't do Max Payne 3.

Wow, finally, a brooding, dark, bald antihero!
How refreshing!

Well whatever it is I hope you get to actually fight god (murder your maker) I would give huge props to a company willing to go that controversial.

It COULD be Hitman if Activision took over the IP, unlikely though.

The first thing I thought of seeing this was Manhunt, but I doubt it, its most likely Prototype 2.
