Let's not kid ourselves here. If there were one reason to go to Tokyo Game Show over any other video game convention, it would be for some crazy out in left field, anime inspired, school girl game. So leading off my TGS coverage, I bring out the epitome of that, GalGun.
If you've watched the video, you'll notice it's kind of a Light Gun game. Characters run up to the screen popping out from behind boxes and bookshelves. You shoot them with some sort of gun and they fall to the ground. The only difference is that instead of blood thirsty zombies or robo-samurai, the enemies on screen happen to be Cute School Girls. And also these slow motion shooting sequences where basically it's free game to shoot her where ever.
So my biggest problem with the game would be that you play it completely with the Xbox 360 Controller. I could probably take this game more seriously if it has some light gun support but it didn't, maybe it will in the future? The reason I don't think it will is strictly because the game uses a sort of a sticky aim assist where the cursor immediately will quick jump to a certain part of rushing enemy's body dependent on your location. Conveniently, this usually tends to be a school girls nether region which sends her into a quivering pile on the floor.
During my playthrough, I think I did significantly worse than the average player due to the fact that I specifically tried to avoid shooting the girls in the va-jay-jay and focused more on arms and neck. I'm still unsure what it is exactly I'm shooting with them that causes such a reaction and why it is exactly that I'm avoiding all these girls in the first place. I can only assume that it's because my real true love is the girl at the end being held by the tentacle monster boss.
Ultimately, I had a good laugh when seeing this game for the first time. It seems pretty rough around the edges and who knows what kind of gameplay variation it can offer up later on. I mean as much as I love school girls, I think shooting them in a pretty generic way while moving cursor around with a controller will get pretty monotonus after thirty minutes.
There's probably no way this will be released outside the US and if it's on disc, expect it to be way overpriced in Japan. One thing you guys probably are better off not having experienced is the audio. Headphones there were the only way to hear anything, but trust me, having audio with this game only made it more disturbing.
More from Tokyo,
David

I thought it was pretty hilarious concept when I first read a preview of it a couple of days ago. And yeah, we'll probably never see it over here.

Imagine this game but with Kinect functionality, where you use your hands to grope the under-aged schoolgirls! Or you can aim pelvic thrusts at the screen which give you bonuses!
This game is not really helping to fight the stereotype that the Japanese are perverts...

Im not going to lie...i am intrigued in the basis of this "game" but i would have rather had a nice dating sim instead. And i believe the "gun" is a cellphone camera/ camera i think..

"Hey let's make bland version of House of the Dead but use a concept that gives players an excuse to touch young high school girls and reward them for it."

Ok, this game is weird. I will probably feel like a pedo playing this game... I thought I heard a gunshot. Anyways, maybe they should of just done this with hookers that are at least 18 years old in the streets of some big city. I know its just a game. I think that I will not play this even if it comes here.

I foresee the blame of the next school shooting getting pinned on this game.
