Enslaved is less than a month away, and it's a real shame Namco wasn't at Pax to show it off. The demo that was at E3 would have been fine to show off to the public, but neither Sony or Microsoft cared enough to throw it in their booths. I still can't believe a game out so soon is still so unknown by so many people. In a desperate attempt to create buzz for this game, I'm posting more new footage of Enslaved in action. Watch them below. No, seriously. Where are you going?
I just... I don't know what to say. Are people not liking what they see when they watch the game in action? Or are they not watching this stuff at all? The game is going to bomb. No one knows anything about it. I went over to Gamefaqs to check board activity. Fallout: New Vegas, which comes out 1 week after this game, has 121 pages of threads on the message board. Enslaved has 3. Three. THREE. Even Castlevania: Lords of Suckdow has 22 pages. People are not even discussing this game. I DON'T GET IT. It's not some weird niche Japanese game or some odd genre. It's an action adventure title and it looks great.

i think people are getting tunnel vision, where only the really big titles are getting hype. I would get his game over fallout because mainly i have already played a game almost exactly like fallout. But I don't know, maybe people want more of what they already played.
I do think that people are like fish. When fish see a fishing lure they don't look around to see if there are other lures. They charge that lure and bite it. Now people seem to do that same thing, but with opinions. I have seen this even in the 4PP community where they will see a new game and if they hear a opinion before they made up there own they grab on to that one. So what i'm saying is people tend to play big games because they see all the other fish going after that lure, before they found there own.

Personally I'm just not a fan of these types of games. I gave Bayonetta a try on your recommendation and really enjoyed it but it was something much different to Enslaved and had a brilliantly put together combat system. This game deserves to do better than it probably will but sympathy won't make me pick it up unfortunately. I hope people who enjoy this type of game and will give Castlevania a buy will give this game a try though.

I've been anticipating this game since the day it was announced. I know Brad isn't very fond of the Nariko segments in Heavenly Sword, but I enjoyed that game all the way through (granted I did always want more archery sections). This is probably due to my lack of experience in the genre. The only other games in this style I've played have been about half of God of War 1 and Ninja Gaiden 2. I suspect that the storytelling is making up for some flat combat in my memory. Point being, I'm buying Enslaved.
(On a side note, it's starting to seem like the only retail games I feel justified putting my money towards are ones that need the sale. Before this I picked up Valkyria Chronicles 2, and I'm going to pass on Halo Reach (I can live without it) and Dead Rising 2 (SADFACE).

I plan on getting this game as soon as I can. It looks fantastic.

my highest anticipated game of the year...pretty stoked

I'm excited for this game. I know that most people out there are more interested in the "Blockbuster" titles like New Vegas and Halo: Reach, but as far as I'm concerned this game is my Blockbuster title. Everything about this game looks great to me. Just from what I can see so far I can already see things other developers should be learning from. ie: Facial animations that don't suck.

I finished watching the first 30 minutes of Enslaved and it looks great, very cinematic and it kind of does it in the Uncharted 2 sense.
For those who don't think the trailers tickle your fancy watch this

I can't wait for this! Action adventure games are seriously lacking this generation. I have a 360 so I've missed Uncharted and there's a limit to how many times I can play TR Anniversary. From what I've seen this game has a GREAT last gen feel about it. Plus its bursting with more colour than a woman giving birth to a rainbow. Hopefully it delivers.

Speaking of under the radar have people heard of "Majin and the Forseaken Kingdom"?
Im not sure about it yet. If The last Guardian fucked Prince of Persia08...this would be what Elyka squeezes out. Especially if they were cousins. But wait and see.

Enslaved was in this months episode of Qore and even that didn't convince me. Enslaved is going to suck and obviously it will get outsold by Castlevania. Lords of Shadow is meh but it's still 10 times better than Enslaved. The reason hardly anyone cares about the game is because there is nothing to care about. Looks like just another below average game that will be overshadowed by better ones.

...this game...the look of it takes my breath away. Gods, the character's faces and voices are so full of emotion and very human. Very real. And the surroundings are gorgeous. If I had money, I would buy this game, even over Vanquish, as it is more my style of game. I mean, really, just the world itself would be fascinating to explore! As long as the game has some nice length, it should be a great story. Heck, the story sounds good just from these characters. Just from the characters, and that's only to start.
Arg...ever since 4PP started mentioning this(and by far, I say thanks for that, because I learn a lot about some more under-the-radar games from here than anywhere else), I've been interested. Enslaved itself doesn't seem like the best title for a game, but after I learned more, it seems to fit well. I think that there are a lot of reasons that it will be overshadowed. One would be because of all the big titles. Fallout, Castlevania, Halo, and a ton more are coming out or at least known about right now. They'll get the buzz. A new IP always has difficulty, unfortunately, when that kind of thing happens.
It might manage to pull in a crowd after the fact though. I mean, despite all common logic of the average gamer, Bayonetta reached over a million in sales and whatnot. I feel like that has to mean something, in some way. I think that too many people might just rent this though, thinking that it will just be another short thing like Heavenly Sword. I hope that it has bonus content. I hope that it has good puzzles. I hope for a lot of things, but I think that at this point, it's all going to be an uphill battle, and that is unfortunate.

I'm actually extremely thankful to you guys for introducing me to "Enslaved," a while back. I like the idea of a symbiotic relationship between characters like this, and the setting sounds intriguing.
And I must say, I'm loving the cinematic shots, and the short cut scene's they're showing of the characters conversing with each other. I don't know what it is about it, but I love their facial features.
The gameplay looks really interesting, and looks like it could be a lot of fun.
I'll definitely be picking this up when it comes out!

Now I'm really excited; Andy Serkis (Voice actor for Monkey) was the motion capture and voice actor for Gollum, did the voice for King Bohan in Heavenly Sword, and played characters in the Prestige and Peter Jackson's King Kong (film), to name but a small portion of his career. I am straight up positive the voice acting will be extraordinary. Hopefully this game will do well from word of mouth. Maybe the dev team is trying this tack instead of trying to compete with the hype for other games. I will play this, and I will greatly enjoy it. That I am sure of.

Sadly once Fall comes around most people (casual and hardcore) are primarily focused (time and money wise) on Halo, CoD, Fallout, Fable, Assassins Creed, etc... I'm sure a good amount of people will gamefly and rent it but I can definitely see it tanking HARD sales wise. This is just the common mindset, it sucks but what can you do. I even have a friend who isn't interested in all the above games but is instead setting cash aside for Birth by Sleep, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Epic Yarn. Theres just too much competition and this game is going to have a real hard time finding an audience.

To be honest? Not excited for this game.. at all. I just don't see what you're seeing. Looks alright.. the female really rubs me the wrong way, her tone of voice is just pitchy and annoying. The acting seems hum-drum across the board [then again, they haven't shown much of it]. The action is fairly standard looking, and I'm just not a fan of platforming or most character action games. Some of the set pieces are gorgeous, I'll admit, but at the same time many of them are just plain.. junky looking. Maybe it has to do with the fact they're in a mech junkyard? I dunno. And the trailers are pretty bad.
Ultimately I can't see myself playing this game. The value for purchasing it seems really low. I have to spend my money wisely these days, and I can't justify tossing $50+ at a risky game, that is likely fairly short and possibly forgettable [seriously, it's just a tale of two/three people traveling west.. and if it's more, they're not showing ANYTHING]. I'll definitely pirate it if it comes out on the PC, though!

Been hyped up for this since Nick started talking about it around E3 time..
I pre-ordered this along with Vanquish, Sonic Colors and LBP2.. this year has been exciting for games, so far.

with an industry ran by sequals, its hard for some people to get excited to a new unproven IP

This reminds me a lot of Beyond good and evil. I have a feeling it will be this gens BG&E which is a compliment but also a bad thing.
That game didn't sell well which i still don't understand. It's like people can't take super colorful games seriously or cell shading hinders a game that much to people.
Either way i hope i'm wrong about it not selling well.

I love you Brad but I dont think you have a right to complain if a game bombs when you gamefly instead of buying. 60 dollars gives you a right to condemn others but not until then.

I was interested in the game mainly because of its style. Now that I've watched the videos you posted, Brad, as well as others, I definitely plan on picking this game up come October.

I actually have heard of this game but nothing big that makes anyone I know want to get it. I will hopefully check this game out, but I feel that this and Vanquish won't get the credit they both deserve for quality games. These are not easy to come by with halo: reach coming out in a couple of days along with black ops in November, the same stuff comes out continuously and people keep feeding into this. I do admit I will get black ops due to the new game mode appeals, but I will certainly be checking this game out. Thanks for the videos brad.

I need to recommend this game to my best friend right away. It's pretty much right up his alley.
I hope this game does well enough. (if it's as good as it looks anyways)
