Persona 3 and 4 get no shortage of love amongst fans of Japanese RPGs. And while I certainly love the genre myself, these games have never hooked me. I blame the overly convoluted fusion system, the "strategic" battles that simply involve exploiting an enemy weakness, and the infuriatingly rigid and linear game structure. With the impressive success of these games in both Japan and the West, I just assumed the series would eventually continue on the PS3. I was wrong. The team behind the Persona games is making an entirely new IP! And thankfully, they seem to be benching the entire Shin Megami Tensei universe. Now watch this very strange trailer for Catherine.
I see adults, not school kids. Already off to a great start. Cool music, excellent style, attractive (adult) women, and of course... creepy sheep monsters. This game is cool, sexy, and creepy all at once. Did I mention I didn't see any kids in this trailer?
I'm pretty sure we still have no idea what this game actually is. But with presentation like this, I'll play any genre they decide to make. I just pray it gets localized.

Seen the trailer yesterday morning, getting ready to play this with dick in hand. Hopefully it won't be censored during localization because the whole blood and gore being acceptable in america, but not sex thing.

Knowing Atlus USA, they'll probably bring over the PS3 version. Which is awesome. If they bring over the 360 version, well more power to them (and sales, which is always good).
I, however think you, Mr. Simons, should definitely try Persona 4.

This trailer made me say "...What" a good 13 times. I had no idea what was going on, or how someone could stretch there mouth like they were about to eat a entire watermelon in one bite. And was the sheep thing suppose to be scary or was it dancing i was too confused to even understand if it was a dream, was it all a dream, or was i dreaming i ever saw such a confusing trailer.
Go Japan :P

I'm loving the games presentation. Sadly, I don't know if it would be localized after seeing how much sexuality is present in the trailer. One thing I hate about America is for some reason we find Nudity and Sex to be more offensive than extreme violence.

Beastly creepy...

The trailer seems pretty interesting. I think that the game is going to look like a game with puzzle solving and character interaction more than JRPG combat heavy gameplay. I would like to see an actual gameplay trailer to answer some of my questions on this game.

I'm genuinely struggling to think of another new game (not a sequel) that's had me so interested after just a couple of scans an a teaser. Something about this fucked-up, twisted look the game has just seems to click with me.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

This is looking like my kind of game so far. Its strange enough on the surface to attract my interests and mysterious enough for me to keep my eye on it.

I hope the blonde girl turns into a sheep mid-fuck, that'd be weird as.
....I wouldn't stop, and that's why I'm going to hell.

A 32-year old protagonist? God, do human beings even LIVE that long?
Definitely liking the setting and style. I'm looking forward to seeing some footage that includes gameplay mechanics.

This Preview/Trailer has my interest. The vibe I get from this game is very, very different from any Japanese game I've ever played. Like what's been stated, It's very mature, very odd, and has style. I would love to get my hands on this English/Japanese :)

Mustard explained this to me: In the commercial, at the beginning, the guy is asking the girl if, if you die in a dream, would you die in real life? The girl responds by saying that she's killed people in dreams before.
Meanwhile, people are dying mysteriously in their sleep, and the man is having a strange dream where he's walking down a corridor, gradually changing into a sheep as he goes.
...That's as much as I remember Mustard saying, I hope it cleared some stuff up for y'all. ^_^ This looks like a really interesting game, I'm really excited to see it in it's entirety.

I'm glad to see an exploration away from the Shin Megami games. Hopefully the break will help the next Shin Megami game be even better instead of just ok because of the creators getting bored.

Sad news really, hopefully it will lay the tracks for SMT 4 on PS3 that they hinted at long ago
Makes me realize how much I despise the current persona fans that love the "japanese school life/dating simulator" junk of persona 3-4 so much.. Not to forget the "NO persona 5?!?!? FAIL!! xDxD!!" and all that stupid 12yo 4chan lingo..
But all that has gotten so insane they think persona games are what the whole "megaten" means.. To the point of some of them saying "A persona spin off? Whatever gimme persona 5!!" which makes it even more painful..
HATE!!

I won't buy it. I'd rather wait for Persona 5. This doesn't look appealing at all especially with the genre they're going for.

Not quite surreal enough yet.

They got Cowboy Bebop up in my Persona 5.

When I look at this I see an overexerted attempt to slap more violence into an already mature title, or spin off of the mature title, that we call "Persona".
If this actually plays any different (in terms of combat and character development) I would feel safe drawing parallels to some of the later Zelda games. (In terms of combat (possibly) and overall tone)
All things aside, I'm probably only going to get this if it gets localized, and knowing Atlus, that won't be a problem... Unless the game is really rowdy. That might not be a problem though, considering that both the 360 and the PS3 logos are at the end of the trailer.
So, yeah.
