For all those out there who denounce videogames as not being art, have a taste of this:  Some pretty hardcore yet sensitive Braid fans have adapted the 2D time-bending game into an interpretative dance number. Not only is Braid so artsy that it fought and killed The Sistine Chapel, it has begun to reproduce and its offspring now scamper wildly amongst other artistic disciplines.

The performance by Chaparral High School Alumni Theater is described as follows:

Using a unique combination of content movement and contact improvisation dance techniques, Braid follows the       story of young scientist Tim on his quest to find a Princess. A story of love, regret, obsession, and loss is told through various filters of time, from undoing our past mistakes to slowing down the world.

The performance clocks in at about an hour and is split up into 10 parts. Out of those 10, the clip below is the one I felt was the "Braidiest". Alas, I couldn't watch too much of it as the sheer artness of it caused me to sprout a turtleneck sweater, not a good thing in this blistering Texas heat. Here is a link to the first part if you want to catch it from the beginning.

Jokes aside, this is pretty interesting. The themes, characters and -specially- the music of Braid can lend themselves to interesting interpretations through other media.  Perhaps this is only the beginning and soon games will cross-over into many other things that we wouldn't have expected them to.

Like this Bioshock musical I'm writing. -Would you kindly...come meet me down in Raaaaaptuuuuure. -Would you kindly...come dance with me beneath the seaaaaaaaa.  And everyone wears rabbit masks and sweet costumes and there's an ADAM syringe on the table and it goes off by the third act.
