505 Games have announced today that they're collaborating with Russian developer Biart Studios to bring us Deep Black, a third-person shooter that takes place underwater. Deep Black promises players "action packed battles and an immersive story line of complex science-fiction mystery, espionage and bio-terror."

Players have access to a number of gadgets that make underwater combat and traversal easier. Such as the propulsion pack attached to the player's diving suit and harpoon weapons. Expect Deep Black on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in early 2011.

With the sales pitch out of the way I can tell you that this looks like an interesting concept. But with only two screenshots and a tiny dollop of information to go on there's very little else I can say about the title. Your thoughts?

It is hard to tell from just two screenshots, but it looks kind of cool, although almost a little Dead Space-like. Not that something like that is neccesarily bad...

Swimming and shooting? Brad is going to have a SPAAACE BOONEEERRR!!!
Crude joke aside... This definitely looks interesting. The main thing I'd be curious as to hearing more about is the aiming system. Will it be close to Dead Space style where you have to stand still to aim, or will it be a genuine 3rd person shooter like gears where you can move and shoot at the same time.

A long time ago there was a report that 505 games was working on an action based Michael Phelps game, I guess this is what became of that.

Game looks very interesting. I actually might go and pick this one up when it comes out. Underwater combat is bad ass.

@Sishendao you can move and shoot in dead space, you just can't move fast

Seems interesting. If they can make it so you can sabotage someone else's O2 Tank to make it explode, I would have my mind blown.

Bio-terror, eh? If that means spooky fish enemies in the dark, I'm down. Fish creep me out. However, it would be so easy to fuck up. I mean, if they just make big, dumb, monsters, covered in spikes and red/orange, it wouldn't be scary at all for me.

Stupidest idea ive ever heard of, thinking about controlling the character in this is unfathomable.

I'm afraid the propulsion pack will work like the lost planet 2 jet pack.

Interesting, I enjoy water sequences that are done well, at least thedevelopers are trying to do something different instead of making a typical shooter.

With only 2 screenshots its hard to say how it will turn out, but it definetly sounds like a good concept for a game.

Maybe this is why Naughty Bear sucked monkey butt. All their money went into this game here and now I'm left with a game with a great concept, but is technically unbeatable due to major glitches :[[[
    Why 505, why?!?!?

Bottom line its a 505 game, no matter how good it might look it always ends shitty, if this becomes a good game i will be surprised as it would be there first triumph in an actual decent game... after playing 19 of there over games i just sayin im sure this will just be another barrel of shit

I'm just wondering how they will make the controls feel good. I haven't played a single game so far that has good underwater controls.
    Maybe except Majora's Mask.

I don't know what to think. This game looks very interesting but it's being published by 505 Games which usually don't publish good things. But it's a Russian developer and for some reason Russian developers know how to do things nowadays. Metro 2033 and Stalker come to mind. Also this looks like it has a Shadow Complex vibe to me. Him being in all black and having thrusters underwater(although I don't think you could use your jetpack underwater for Shadow Complex). Need to see more but do want atm.

First thing that comes to mind; Brad is gonna flip out, maybe dampened by some sort of developer stuff; it's a russian developer though, and they have done very interesting stuff with atmosphere in games like singularity, metro 2033, cryostasis, stalker and so on ;)
