So I was hanging out over on neoGAF and saw a thread for "awesome" video game trailers. Someone posted links to trailers for Edge of Twilight, a PS360 game developed by the studio, Fuzzyeyes. I knew of this game, but I had never seen anything outside of screenshots. After watching these trailers in all their steampunk-fantasy infused glory, I was saddened to discover that this game is most likely never come out. Last December the studio laid off most of its staff and halted development of the game. The game was going to be published by the awful SouthPeak Games -- which might have been the reason Fuzzyeyes didn't have the budget to continue with the project. I hate to see this potential lost, as Edge of Twilight looked a hell of a lot more inspired than "Castlevania:" Lords of Shadows.

I've actually heard it's still in development. It's just been transferred to another studio with a lower budget. So.. it could come out. It just won't be as good or maybe it'll be one of those games that ends abruptly. : I hope they manage to pull it out somehow.

Gonna be honest and say i heard nothing of this,
From the trailers i get a Fablely vibe from it.

Its always sad when people lose their jobs but i dont think that much anticipation for a new IP can be built from cinematic trailers, especially when i dont really see anything that jumped out at me specifically.

But yes its unfortunate that a new IP was shot down before anything solid was shown.

I agree that it does give off that Fable 2 like vibe, which I didn't like too much. But it's got the whole steampunk theme going on which I had always liked for some reason and the enemies in the game already looked 10x more inspired than anything Fable 2 had.

I like how the two trailers were very different, where the first one was showing life of a city, while the second showed what looked to be the same city, but completely devoid of people. I personally liked the second trailer better. It is a shame to see that development was halted as it does seem to have a lot of potential.

I fear that if has been transferred then the overall concept could drastically change into something uninspiring and dull and if that hasn't happened then we're looking at a gem never being given to the public.. both outcomes seem dark for "Edge of Twilight".

This in terms of world style and feel is were the Zelda series needs to go. I think its a bit disrespectful to the series (Zelda) that they keep Hyrule looked in this timeless state of just fantasy with vaguely familiar landmarks in each new installment. Respect your series and age it please.

As for this game, I love the look of it. The vibe I get is more Demon's Souls rather than Fable though. Desolation, those who managed to survive whatever has happened are just depressed and terrified. The atmosphere of the world itself speaks volumes of the world. People search the skies for hope only to have their prayers smashed by the billowing towers of black smoke. At least that is what I get from the trailers.

Walking up to those large oil pumps would be just awe inspiring and honestly a little bit depressing and terrifying. The same could be said for walking up a hill to discover a large metropolis hidden away in a ravine somewhere. I hope this game makes it to release, big budget or no. With a world like this it would be a shame not to put it into gamer's hands.

Say what you will, the Protagonist seems to be one of those kinds of people you rarely see in games. He has the mind of a Villain.....but the soul of a Hero.

After doing some Reading on the wiki I saw this:

In December 2009, several sources (former employees of Fuzzyeyes Studios) stated that work on the project ceased "months ago" and that the game may not see release.[4]

These rumors, however, were put to rest by a public statement made by Fuzzyeyes Studios ensuring that the game will be released and that due to internal issues and problems with the publisher, Southpeak Interactive, the game's development had been postponed until early October. A Fuzzyeyes representative recently commented that "Currently all outsourcing parties still working hard on EOT development," so it seems the title will eventually make full retail release.[5]

so it seems it may still come out, but all the outsourcing may end up twisting the original picture of the game.

If this was an RPG with the name 'Final Fantasy' scolded onto it, sales wouldn't be a problem. Anywho, the setting definitely looks more realized and detailed than I was expecting, especially from such a unknown studio.

Also, from the looks of Mike Pattons IMDB page, he seems to be doing some voice acting for the game as 'The Outsider', quite intriguing. But the real question is, will Nolan North be making an appearance?

If the game is released: Whoo hoo I love the Retro-Tech , SteamPunk world it shows.

If the game isn't released: Curse you Brad for showing use its existence

Yeah has some similarities to Both Fable and demon Souls More so the former with its cities and style .

I agree with Dimensaur. It gave me a very Demon's souls feel. Desperation, Despair, and futility. Awesome.

    Holy fucking shitballs.

How can a game like this get scrapped, something with some fucking originality and an interesting setting, but we can get Gears of War and God of War sequels out the ass?

I mean, I understand it's difficult to get a new IP rolling, especially with a poor publisher, but it's still a fucking shame that this will never see the light of day.

This makes me sad, honestly. Like others have pointed out already, this is a beautiful idea. The trailers are masterpieces, and the whole vibe, setting, and tone of the world is magnificent. I, for one, am getting tired of games that, while they play well, are almost devoid of any really interesting story. Yes there are some notable exceptions, but this looks like a game that would be high on satisfying combat AND story. Something that I feel the industry is lacking as a whole. I'm afraid that my words cannot adequately describe the myriad of emotions that went through me while watching these trailers. I got chills, to say the least. The mood is absolutely epic, I love it. It would be a terrible waste of beautiful creativity to not release a game with such potential. I can only hope that work continues on this wonderful piece, and that it isn't soiled by those who's hands are now making it.
