...can we get something a little more inspired?

Marvel vs Capcom 3 has finally been announced so now is the time to post your dream team. As most of you know, MvC3 is a 3 on 3 fighting game containing characters from both the Marvel Universe and Capcom games. The goal here is for you guys to post your dream trio of characters (not announced already) that you would like to see make it into the game. They have to be from either Marvel or Capcom, so no "I WANT TO BE MASTER CHIEF!!". Now here is my dream trio as well as my back-up team when I don't feel like sweeping tournaments.

My team:

From Okami, I would love to see Amaterasu. The combat in Okami is already fast paced and twitchy, and I think she would be a great fit for MvC3. The various weapon types could play a role in her combos, and It would be especially cool to see paint brush techniques in her specials and supers. Issun, the tiny leaf man who rides Amaterasu, would also be a hilarious choice for a Servbot style joke character.

I think Gene from God Hand is another obvious choice. He is nearly a fighting game character already; and given how he plays in God Hand, his supers and specials would be hilarious. He would of course have a power-up type special where he releases the power of the God Hand and becomes faster and stronger. I know everyone out there wants to see him Ball-Buster Cyclops (who would probably like it) and Dragon-Kick Mega Man to the Milky Way. So many characters from this game would fit too. If MvC1 style assists are back I would love to see Gorilla Mask or the Mad Midget 5 in the game as well. Poison Chihuahua perhaps?

Dante is most assuredly confirmed (and maybe Trish <-- booooo!), but I'd trade them both to take control of Lady from Devil May Cry 3. Why? Well, for one she has this giant spear bazooka weapon thingy... so that's a plus. Also, check out that skirt and those boots... HHHHOOOOTTT! Now imagine her using her sweet motorcycle in supers and we possibly have the greatest fighting game character ever (well except for Bayonetta and KOS MOS, but they are not from Capcom games).

My back-up team?

Can you name the characters and the games they are from?

First choice has to be Viewtiful Joe. How can he not be in? He got a shot in Tatsunoko vs Capcom and is commonly placed in the high tiers among the competitive players of that game. Plus he's like Capcom's own little super hero, so lets see how he stacks up against the likes of Spider-Man and Captain America.

Second choice would be Harman Smith from Killer 7. Construct him as a Shang Tsung style character that can transform into any of the other Smiths at will and give him a super that involves them all attacking and you've got a winner in my book. Also I wouldn't mind some kind of button hold code to start him as any of the Smiths you want (or link that to the costume choices or something).

Third would be Kick Ass. Whats not to like? Hes got sticks and will kick your ass. The other characters (specifically Big Daddy and Hit Girl) would be cool too but three from one series might be too much. Plus go ahead and capitalize on the movie being released recently and draw some sales.

A couple of others I thought of where Mr.Fantastic and Multiple Man (from the X-Men). Mr Fantastic is really a no brainer, with Dr.Doom most likely returning and King Skrull apparently being in from the silhouettes they're going to need more than The Thing.

Multiple Man is a little more obscure and may end up being more suited as a support character but either way I think it would be awesome. In case no one knows, Multiple Man's power is basically whenever he is hit, he can make a copy of himself. It might be hard to make a full playable character based on that dynamic but you never know. Maybe a super that calculates how many hits you've taken and makes copies appropriately? That's why I think a support character is more his role. Call him out in front of a 100 hit super and counter with one hundred copies of Multiple Man. Would be cool.

While support characters are on the table, why not throw the Wizard of Oz crew on there. Its public domain (I think), Marvel has done their own version of it and it was pretty darn popular (it stayed on the New York Times bestsellers list for quite a while). Call them out and have them skip down the yellow brick road......of pain!

That's all I've got for now.

On the Capcom side I want to see a character combo from Haunting Ground consisting of Fiona and Hewie, where Fiona possesses the hitbox and has a few feeble attacks but most of her specials or heavy attacks go through Hewie, who would have his own sprite on the screen. His location at any given moment will determine the overall effectiveness of attacks, for instance if the Hewie sprite is behind your opponent and you punch in the combo that makes him charge you could knock the opponent towards Fiona where she could combo off of his attacks.
I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today so for my second choice I'm going with Elf from Shadow over Mystara. She already has a good arsenal of both melee and ranged attacks and I think the inclusion of certain spells she possesses (sleep comes to mind) could make her a very interesting addition to the roster.
Amaterasu was already snatched up by Brad, so I'm just going to use Thief from Shadow Over Mystara and refuse to elaborate.

    As for the Marvel Side:
    Deadpool
    Lady Deadpool
    Zombie Deadpool's Head

Another pretty cool addition from the Capcom side just occurred to me. Sissel from Ghost Trick. I understand that Phoenix Wright may have a better shot of getting in, but Sissel might serve Capcom's interests better. The character is well designed, and from what I know of Ghost Trick, he has a pretty good base to build moves off of. Plus it would give Capcom some bit to advertise. I realize Ghost Trick is coming out first, but if he's in this it could attract new players to Ghost Trick and maybe even the Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice games. It might be a stretch, but he would be a welcome addition in my mind.

From the Capcom side definitely some Bison, Blanka, maybe Guile.
I can't think of anyone from Marvel that hasn't already been mentioned...
I just hope they don't have characters with only one finisher move like Ice Man. I mean really he's Ice Man...it's not hard to think of 3 ice moves.

Definitely agree with Amaterasu and Lady.
I always loved the fighting style in Okami and it would be really interesting to have this non-humanoid character fighting. Amaterasu already has so many different ways to fight, and there could be so many cool special attacks that could be used. Especially with Issun, since in Okami you didn't use him for many things, but would be a great addition and be interesting to see what they would do with him.

Lady would be great because she has an amazing fighting style, and even though I've only played DMC3, the cutscenes and fight against her were always interesting because of her fighting style. I'd love to actually play as her and they could do so much with her unique way of fighting. She's different from Dante, and that is really good.

Third choice on the Capcom side would vary for me. It's cool that they seem to have Dante thrown in there, because he always is fun to play as, but we've played a few games with him as the main character already. I'd so prefer playing as characters that I rarely get to play as or haven't gotten to play as yet. I think that a character from Killer 7 would be my last choice, merely because I'd love to see how they would pull it off.

I would love to see Carnage, The Punisher and Deadpool. But I still want them to keep all of the characters from MvC2, I like all of them. How about some Marvel Zombies characters? Also, if the Marvel Zombie characters are a possibility why not Ash from Army of Darkness vs Marvel Zombies? Is that Marvel or was it just a joint operation between Marvel and Dynamite?

    Capcom
Poison - Cody and Guy? pfffft
Wesker/tyrant/barry - Either one of these badasses would do
Master D - No chance in hell (since bison/balrog is the guy now) but would be hilarous.

If we could go the disney route, darkwing duck as he is the closest thing to batman...

    Marvel
    Mistique - Shang Tsung
Longshot - Weaker offensively than Dan. No defense. Blonde mullet and even wussier but with random KO attacks. No super but each attack has very low probability of turning into a intant KO super or capable of tremendous damage when blocked.
Bishop - Absorbs energy and takes damage, but charges up to use it against you. Hold down 2 buttons to charge up red area of energy. Charge longer for more damage at the risk of death. Charge level craps out rapidly if you leave to heal, no blocking during charge.

Isn't deapool basically a ninja Wolverine? Hence the popularity...

    Jean Reno = win
Multiple man is a great idea. He is basically immortal in a free area.
I woulda went with el scorpio or biff.

    Cool ideas everyone.

    Marvel
    Venom

Okami - Brad basically explained why already

The Wanderer - Shadow of the Colossus - Strange choice, maybe, but I think there could be some really creative and cool use of his Death Gip and the sword's light and summoning Dormin or a Colossus, or hell, even turning into one himself!

Lara Croft - Tomb Raider - Because I love her.

One more that I'm going to bring up, because I think it could work, Wayne from Lost Planet. I remember thinking when I first got my hands on MvC2 I wasn't really open to Jill as a character. Guns and sending zombies out to attack seemed weird to me (I had not played resident evil at that point).

If they decide to construct him like that (let him shoot in a similar way to BB Hood or something), give him the ability to control some bugs, and maybe some grenades and a halfway decent set of punches and kicks (maybe rifle butts and knees would be more appropriate) and I think you could have a successful character.

    Capcom:

Jon Talbain (Darkstalkers): -Its his time to shine. This is a great chance to include Jon, who doesn't want to play as a werewolf martial artist.

Amaterasu: -Brad pretty much explained it all

William Augustus Grey(Dark Void): -He would be interesting involving his jetpack in his fighting and maybe other surprises.

    Marvel:

Thor: Sad he was left out in MvC2. He one of the biggest and most powerful character in Marvel. Would be cool to see how he fights with his hammer and his thunder abilities.

Super-Skrull: -All the Fantastic Four in one character, what more do I have to say.

Ghost Rider: -Hellfire abilities and using his chain in combat would be cool. Also maybe his Hellcycle could be in his hyper.
