I feel like I have been in this situation before. Many times before in fact. I first remember feeling this way mere weeks before the release of Spider-Man 3 the movie. I could not hide my excitement. I had Spider-man on the brain almost 24 hours a day and I was sure that this was going to be the movie that changed my life. Well... we all know how that turned out. Unfortunately, as a consequence of being excited for the movie and being a fan of Spider-Man 2 the game, I was excited for the release of Spider-Man 3 the game. I even picked it up with my shiny new PS3! Well unfortunately, Activision dropped the ball and that game was a glitchy mess. I remember thinking to myself: "Spider-Man has a rocky video game history and I'm sure activision will take steps to ensure this doesn't happen again with their next game." Wrong.

Fast forward a few years later when Activision quietly announces that Shaba Games was developing Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The trailer was stylish and the combat and story premise looked good enough to be one of the best Spider-Man games ever made. It looked like Spider-man may have finally found his place in gaming. Once again, we all know how that turned out. The game was relatively difficult to control, the camera was crazy, the missions were repetitive and boring, and don't even get me started on the voice acting. It ranks fairly high on my list of worst disappointments in gaming. But Activision couldn't let this happen again right?

It seems we are about to find out.

It seems that the next issue of Gamepro is set to reveal the first details of Activision's "Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions." Bobby Kotick himself has publicly acknowledged that the past few Spider-Man games have sucked and in a world where Batman: Arkham Asylum exists, another flop could be the kiss of death for the franchise. So I am officially reluctantly excited to see what they intend to change to make the next game a winner. I know it is possible to make a good spider-man game; "Ultimate Spider-Man" is somewhere in my top 30 games of all time. With rumors that this game may be the next project from Radical Entertainment, the team that brought you Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, I feel a small glimmer of hope that Spider-Man may finally have a chance at becoming relevant in the gaming world once again. A mere glimmer of hope, but hope none the less.

Thanks,
Nick

I remember playing Ultimate Spider-man and really enjoyed it. It was just a rental though, which is a shame because I really wanted to beat it.

If they can make me feel a good sense of momentum, and then fill the world with enough things to do, i will probably buy it.

The last game i remember feeling a sense of speed was playing Mirror's Edge, where the thing they did best was making you feel like you would slow doen considerbally at the slightest mistake and even though it was kinda punishing in that way it was worth it when you were sliding under shit and maintaining that momentum.

So Activison what im saying is, make a first person spiderman game, no not really that wouldnt work, OR WOULD IT?

Shattered Dimensions...I'll try any game, so when this game I'll try it......but I have a feeling this may not be any better than the rest.

Last spiderman game i managed to play was spiderman 3,and compared to Spiderman 2 is sucked massive swinging balls.if the fix the free falling a long with the combat and places to visit in new york, the game could be dynamic and explosive
