Why isn't there a compass on Bad Company 2's minimap? None of that fancy, point you in the right direction, three-dimensional arrow that grows in size as you approach your objective and with a different color gradient depending on your relative altitude. I just want a plain little arrow telling me where North is.

All right, I know there's plenty of indicators onscreen telling me what's what and where what is. However, I still want a damn compass!

Play like a man, you say? On hardcore mode where the mini map is completely gone? Man, F to the U. Many times I've been wanting to warn my squad-mates of an incoming mass of pain-bringing mini soldiers. WATCH OUT! I go. THERE'S DUDES COMING FROM THE....THE....BY THE GREEN HOUSE! That moment of hesitation in which my teammates debated where they should turn to was all the enemy needed to mush 'em up.

It's not that big a deal, though. Seriously. After a while you kind of figure out several landmarks for each map that make communication easier. But for those who aren't that observant, or for those just starting the game, a compass would help tons.

Of course, there would still be some problems. For some people, navigating the map (compass provided) would still prove to be quite the daunting task.

Go North! North, I say!

Your North or my Nor..(gets run over by tank).

    Back in my 2142 days the minimap rotated like it does in BC2. There was always an option to keep it static though...

    Seems like an awful big oversight on the developers part to not have a compass of any kind. o.o;;

    lol, I just ran into the same problem a little while ago, except worse. I saw a squad of guys coming in and I thought it was the south end of the map, so I told my team and everyone ran there. Turns out I was wrong and the enemies were coming from the north instead. By the time I tried correcting my error, everyone was eating bullets from the back of their heads.

    The other Battlefield games have a fixed minimap [at least an option to do so].. don't know why they didn't do it for this. At least you could tell which way was north!

    For now you'll have to, uh.. .. yeah. Have fun!

    Also, holy hell, a Carlos post!

    Learn your Directions, The Sun Rises in the East and sets in the west, so there you go, all of the combat is in the after noon [minus the night map] so say that is west, North south and east are easy to figure out from there. As for the Night Map. the Moon is up since its early in the night, thats the only map where east and west are swapped

    It's funny though, you can't imagine a military briefing where the commander would be going "We will rendezvous over by a brown tower at 18:00 then head between some piles of rubble here and a shelled-out building at the side. Once there, head for buildings and aim your fire at the trees."

    Same thing happened while playing with Brad, since he couldn't read any of the Conquest locations of A, B, C, and D when we would call them out. Started calling out "The enemies are over by the dirt! They're at THAT building!" It was pure confusion.

    "My left or your left? Wait...who the hell is even talking, you all sound the same!"

    its much easier in conquest because you can usually just say A B or C
