Like Will in the Fresh Prince of Bellaire, I moved from one drastically different area to another drastically different area.

It's been a full week here in Japan and it's immediately evident how the changes are effecting me. Short term, I've been waking up a lot earlier. I'm up by 6:30 am every day. Breakfast is usually at around 8 am. I'm eating a lot healthier. I have grilled fish and some vegetables with a bowl of rice for breakfast. Either that or I had two large slices of toast with marmalade spread on the top. These are coupled with a bowl of miso soup.

I'm about to go to another city for a day for which I can only pack lightly. In my DS case, I have three slots plus the cart in the DS, that makes four games I can bring along without having to make extra room. The thing that puzzles me is that originally, I had Treasure World, Mario & Luigi: Bower's Inside Story, Apollo Justice, and Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. I still have Treasure World. But I've replaced the other three with Tetris DS, Professor Layton, and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. Partially because I've gotten to a point where I've kind of lost interest in the others, but also because I've been playing more vs games, like Tetris. Also, I've been playing Mario Kart DS.

I think something that is lost in America is the spirit of non-online multiplayer games. The argument is that not enough people have DS or PSPs. Or that they don't want to travel to another person's house. Both are reasons enough I guess.

But what's great is that I can enjoy something like Mario Kart again when previously, I didn't give a shit about it. I am playing against someone who's a casual game player. Mostly she uses her DS just to do English training or Kanji study. She has a few games that people gave her, ie Girl's Mode, but she doesn't really care for them. But Mario Kart, I suck at. She's better than me. But because of my gaming experience, I can make up the difference.

I want to write about something else as well, but I'm about to leave the house again. I don't know if I'll have the chance to post for the next couple days. I will do my best though.

Take care,
David

I'm glad that you're having a great time in Japan. I'm glad that you're also still keeping in touch with the 4PP community while you're in Japan, whether it's by the fun little videos or by blog posts.
