I bet you they're doing this because they never wanted to localize it, so they're ruining the game's chances every chance they get

I think Sega's trying as hard as possible to make this a massive failure state-side so they can justify keeping everything else they do with the series in Japan only.

Or they're just fucking morons, but this option would make me weep for humanity, so I'm going with the first one.

We should all write Sega of America a strongly worded letter about this.

The folks at marketing are apparently using all their funding for hookers and blow. =(

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7GRY0X4oxI Replace every instance of Yakuza 2 with Yakuza 3 and every instance of Yakuza 3 with Yakuza 4. Kenzan is forever gone too I think.

I either think they are purposely doing it in order to back up their excuses of not localizing the next yakuza due to "poor sales and lack of interest to people".

OR they genuinely think that is a good release date/month, have they not heard of Final Fantasy 13, the crazily hyped God of War 3 or Battlefield Bad Company 2, as well as many other games released in the same month?!

The other weird thing is Sega is releasing another high profile new IP on the same day.

Resonance of Fate will also yank potential sales from Yakuza even if people decide to pick up FF13 and a second game.

    What is going on here?

What is Sega thinking facing against a tougher opponent with titles that no one has even heard of, such as the Yakuza series or Resonance of Fate? Why can't Sega even release trailers or promotions to build up hype for those games like what they did to Bayonetta (except for the fact that Platinum Games did help a bit, I think)? I don't know if Sega's prepared for the hard times to come against the bigger competitors if the consumers don't even know what kind of games are going to be released by Sega in a short amount of time.

I like how there are 2 used copies prior to it's release hahah

Or is that like the copies the amazon workers get to open up and play or something? Would make sense.

Resonance of Fate (which is also published by Sega) is being released on March 9th too, so Sega doesn't even care about performance of their Japanese games in the States.

It's probably considered a small time release for sega of America, so they're just gonna shovel it out there and hope to gain sales over time, so the release date wouldn't really matter.

An unfortunate move by Sega but I will be buying Yakuza 3 and not FFXIII and I hope others follow suit. If the game is as bad as I've heard there could be a big backlash against XIII.

It won't catch the masses eyes at first due to XIII and RoF and it won't be another Demon's Souls, thats for certain.

The cult fan base around Yakuza absolutely needs to spread their honest opinions on the game and why people should look into it. I believe Brad did something like this for awhile on the feed, in hopes of Y3 getting localized and, whether or not it worked, it gained people's attention.

Hopefully SEGA won't be discouraged by the potential low numbers within the first few weeks. They need to realize what type of David and Goliath situation they have with the series in the US.

As for the question you proposed on the podcast, Brad. I'm not gonna get Resonance of fate, and I'm not gonna get Final Fantasy XIII, but I strongly consider getting Yakuza 3. So there is some people that doesn't care about FF and RoF that would buy Yakuza 3. I'm getting GOW III before Yakuza 3 though.
