Red-Dead-Redemption-1Ok so it may not be my most anticipated game of 2010 but surely my most anticipated game of the 1st half of 2010. This video sums up exactly what I was hoping for when I got my first glimpse of the game at PAX. If the game does everything that this video promises and controls as well as (if not better than) GTA4, this game could be the best open world game every created. What do you think? Anything in particular that you hope Rockstar does with this game that hasn't been mentioned in any preview yet?

I'm still believing this to be another by-the-numbers open world game where you go to mission icons, cutscene plays, kill/steal/protect shit and side objectives can be a healthy dose of collecting a object 200 times. But from what I've seen the western setting looks incredibly well realised and the subtle changes or additions look fantastic. Being about to start a bounty hunt by ripping off the wanted posters or having the option for dead or alive targets are just some of the ways which could keep this game interesting enough.

Infact, on one of the episodes of Invisible Walls on GT, one of the guys talked about the dynamic AI of the horses. They mentioned that if you treat your horse badly it would begin to buck you off. But at one time the players horse was hijacked by a bandit, and because he had taken good care of his horse he could whistle and have it buck the thief right off. Now, you can't read that and tell me that isn't awesome.

So yeah, its probably another open world game dressed up in a new era, but as long as the game feels immersive enough and has plenty of cool moments which I so desire, then I'll most likely check this out.

Looks fun but seems like the sort of game that would lose all of it's interesting qualitys at the end of the game and turn into much more of a war game. somewhat like oddworld strangers wrath.

Open world games have never really been my thing. I usually either find the story and characters to be bland or the world not worth exploring. That being said there has always been something about this series that intrigues me. I never got to play Red Dead Revolver, which I still kind of regret honestly.

If this game can pull off a world that is fun and worth while to explore, and characters that actually have a personality and are fun to engage then I'm defiantly not going to let this one slip through my fingers.

i'd like the side missions to be much less tedious than previous rockstar games.
also, perhaps a mass effect esque dialogue system, where your words could determine your honor and path through the storyline, rather than just your actions.

besides that, this game looks very good.

This game looks incredible so far! With a huge and living environment and lots of stuff to do, it's one of my most anticipated games of 2010.

^^^ I agree and i think i am going to gamefly it for a long time because of its large amount of things to do. Since its much like GTA gameplay, im sure i wont be dissapointed.
