Is it just me, or does there seem to be a correlation between the increase in obnoxious countdowns and the decrease in actual exciting game announcements. So when I hear that Namco is potentially bringing back one of their RPG franchises, I'm silly to think it would actually be that series centered around KOS-MOS, right?
So on top of the fact that nothing awesome ever happens anymore, there is the problem that Monolith Soft, the developers of Xenosaga, don't actually work with Namco anymore. This may mean a new team could present a fresh new take on the series, but really... how many talented teams are left at Namco?
If I was a realist (read: I am), my thought process after hearing this news should probably be the following:
1. Whatever this is, it will most likely be on a handheld.
2. This will not be a new Xenosaga game.
3. This countdown is probably counting down to something we already know about.
4. There is a higher probability that this is related to Naruto than anything I care about.
5. This will not be a new Xenosaga game.
6. I will probably not care about whatever is announced.
7. Why the fuck couldn't they just put KOS-MOS into Tekken? How stupid ARE they?

Brad... if you are looking for a game with KOS-MOS in it, you could always play the DS game Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier.
KOS-MOS makes an appearance as a playable character in that.
She'll also be re-appearing in the sequel to it, Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED.

From what I've seen, heard, and tried of that game.... it is crap.
I want a real Xenosaga and I want it on a real console.

I'm so sick of this trend of publishers announcing announcements through countdown timers and the whole stupid cycle of people speculating and then ending up disappointed because the reveal is shit. Just announce whatever the hell your working on and then I'll actually care.

"RPG_LOST” .....Lost...Jerusalem?
*Imagines KOS-MOS in HD* ...aahhhh...

Who honestly gives a shit about Kos-mos besides Brad?
*cricket, cricket*
That's what I thought

There are no customs to make Alisa look like KOS-MOS? Bummer.

I'd suggest keeping 'em low, Brad.
That way, the level of disappointment won't be as bad.
Personally, I kinda wanna see a new Baten Kaitos (not remake.)
...but since that's also a Monolith Soft game, I'm not sure if that's very likely.

Well, I've always been a Super Robot Taisen fan, but I can't get into the type of JRPG that OG Saga: Endless Frontier is, especially the battle system. I'm having trouble getting into Cross Edge on the PS3 for the same reasons.
I know there have been Xenogears/Xenosaga team members who have expressed wishes to return to the Xeno series/world, but I think Monolith's announcement will be completely unrelated.
I feel your pain. T_T
KOS-MOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! T_T

I also could not care less for KOS-MOS, but a Xeno__ game that is less movie and more gameplay would be nice.
Perhaps more related to Xenogears. Pisses me off that the fight against Weltall in the last Xenosaga is just a secret fight and has nothing to do with the story.

I have my doubts about it being a new Xenosaga game since the overall series finished. Although it could lead to something related.

Well if you count the Kos-Mos on the Super Robot Taisen Endless Frontier Exceed (Upcoming sequel to the first). Who knows.... Monolith Soft hasn't said a word yet.

Hey! KOS-MOS' eyes are pink! WHAT IS THIS MALARKY!?
Also: Agreed. But hey, we can hope. Xenosaga on a current-gen console would get my day-one purchase.

Upon review of Namco's RPG history... it's probably a Tales of... game. -_- Or something that plays like a Tales of RPG.
...besides... I'm not sure I would want another Xeno-RPG if Namco's gonna butcher it like they did Xenosaga II... it doesn't feel like they consider Xenosaga to be one of their best franchises out there. I loved Xenosaga 1 and 3, but really, two could be totally missing, and I wouldn't feel like I missed out on anything.
I would rather see a joint project between Square Enix and Namco for the next Xeno-game. Could you imagine the possibilities?

how many people are even aware that the series exists, honestly the game probably wouldn't sell to well if it came out. It may be a great game or whatever, but a modern audience isn't going to be interested.
Unless I'm completely wrong with my analyses

No, I'm pretty sure Japan likes Xenosaga, it just didn't sell well here.
I can see the next series being a Japan only release because western gamers can't get enough of their western RPGs and are too busy sucking up to BioWare and Bethesda to notice other games around them.
I mean like, look at Xenosaga 1&2 for DS. That NEVER came here. Same as our odds of playing something like Pied Piper...
As North American fans of a JRPG series... we can do nothing but pray for an American release.

...Argh...
I should clarify that I say that because a good majority of my friends love their Western RPGs, and when I talk to them about a great JRPG, they dismiss it so quickly because it's "anime-styled" or some bullshit like that.
I have a friend who loves Fallout, and claims to love good plots/characters/development but HE'S NEVER TOUCHED A FINAL FANTASY BEFORE? :|
It just irks me. Western RPGs are good, but I have better memories of JRPGs.

Wasn't Xenosaga supposed to be connected to the storyline of Xenogears? With Xenogears being the 6th episodes of the story? It would be cool if they finished the rest the xeno storyline, It would be nice seeing episode 6 in this gaming generation.
Naruto is overrated
I hope its not a handheld.
