bayonetta_wallpaper_by_patodevilI have 5 weeks to finish playing what I feel could be contenders or at least worthy of discussion for our end of the year awards. These are games that I am still working on, or games that I have put off. I'm trying to be realistic with this list, as last year I didn't get every game I wanted to finished in time. I'm not listing my hand-held titles because I have not yet decided which to actually attempt to finish. I know for sure Zelda: Spirit Tracks will be among them, but it's a long potential list.

If anyone has any ideas for games they think I should really try out (that I haven't played already) before the end of the year, please feel free to post them in the comments.

Finish:
Demon's Souls
Borderlands
Dragon Age: Origins
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Assassin's Creed 2
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Left 4 Dead 2
Klonoa

Downloaded:
Comet Crash
Splosion Man
Trine

Maybe more time with:
Devil Summoner 2
My Life as a Darklord

Coming soon:
Saboteur?

Choosing not to finish:
Ghostbusters
Prototype

Will try to get to:
BlazBlue
Punch-Out!!
Boom Blox Bash Party
Little King's Story
DJ Hero
Muramasa: The Demon Blade

Games I wanted to try but will most likely not get to:
Skate 2
Swords and Soldiers
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel
Overlord 2
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
A Boy and His Blob
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Forza 3
Dirt 2
Way of the Samurai 3

Will not be playing:
Torchlight
Other PC only games.
Most game's multiplayer component.

Dammit Sega:
Bayonetta
Yakuza 3

Overlord 2 you should definitely try to get. Not the most fluent control, but it's a fun game. Has a lot of dark humor you'll probably enjoy.

I know hand held stuff isn't on here but be sure to get around to Bowser's Inside Story. Well, also Skate 2 and Forza 3 ;) but for sure you need to finish that game.

I agree on Overlord 2, and A Boy and His Blob, both are great light-hearted, downright fun yet forgotten games of 2009. I would also suggest Little King Story but from what I hear it is also pretty deep and time consuming, so I don't know if your schedule would permit it. From what I remember you are a Klonoa fan so that's a must finish. I know your not the biggest platformer fan but definitely try and pull through A Crack in Time, I think its easily the best installment since Up Your Arsenal.

You have the greats covered, but here's some other suggestions from my experiences this year. (Have no clue if you played these or not)

Suikoden Tierkreis - I know you haven't exactly decided on your hand held list and as a long time Suikoden purist this game may appall you but...I enjoyed it enough to the point where I would feel guilty not recommending it.

Wolverine Origins - Awesome action game. Doesn't make any leaps or bounds in the genre but great IMO. Glad to see a few licensed properties got respectable games this year.

Excitebots - I just hate to see a great Wii game go completely ignored. If even for one session I suggest trying this just because its simply a lot of fun. Naturally most Wii owners won't touch it because its not another watered down Mario Kart and has a deceivingly childish aesthetic.

Broken Sword Wii - I think David may have played this and I remember you playing Monkey Island earlier this year. Look no further If you can tolerate another adventure game.

As a fan I was tempted to recommend you Persona for PSP, but in all honesty its hard...and i mean fucking HARD to go back to if you have recently played the newer Persona installments.

That's about it for me. There is one game I have recommended to everyone I know time and time again and that is Red Faction Guerrilla, but I remember you playing it. 2009's most criminally overlooked game IMO.

Could coax David t'play more Aquaria.

After the Energy temple (The last part of the beginning.) is when I really fell in love with that game, and that's exactly where he stopped. ;_; Perhaps the same could be said of most Metroidvanias.

A Boy and his Blob and Little King Story are an absolute must. It's heartbreaking how underplayed those games are. I am curious to see your hand held list, post what you decide on when you eventually do. Lots of amazing hand held games get lost in the shuffle every year. I hope Dissidia and Devil Summoner appear on there. 2 of my top 10 of the year overall.

That is a lot of games to try and work your way through in 5 weeks, won't be easy and you may get burned out quick and rush back to a game you are already well established in (Dragon Age! lol). The less to overwhelm you with the better. I say drop Sacred 2 (you've played a MUCH better loot based game already this year), Ditch Riddick (you've seen the best of it 5 years ago) and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (Doesn't bring enough new to the table to play through again).

Recommendations - Star Ocean IV, Dawn of Discovery, Rune Factory: Frontier, Halo Wars, Sam and Max Episodes, Rabbid's Go Home.

    (assuming horror month goes down)
    Dead Space Extraction
Cursed Mountain (would be hilarious on the feed for its cheesiness alone)

Some of you guys are nuts recomending Star Ocean 4. I played it just for the battle system. The story and characters were horrible. I don't think the game was worth it, even for achievements.
If a good RPG is what you're looking for, I'd say Persona 4 or Rogue Galaxy. I finished them both earlier this year.
Or, if you want to take it back to the year 2000, I recommend Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth on the PSP.
My last recomendation would be Katamari Forever. I had such a blast playing that game. I played it at first just for the trophies, but then I realized that the game was too much fun for me to worry about that stuff. I ended up with a cool 40+% without trying. Man that game good.

I don't think brad will ever do handheld games for a while fishies.
Also I definitely agree on blazblue, little king's story, and Way of the Samurai 3,
which has tuna fish swords in it!

I know you already played The Beatles Rock Band, but you should really try out the Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band DLC. Best DLC for a music game ever.
