So I need your help. Kinda.
You the outstanding members of the community, not the poopy ones.
The good ones. That's who I need help from.
Help to created the most fantastic video game Zune.....EVER!!!

03So for those of you who don't know. I own three Zunes 30. If you add them up, it's approximately 90 GBs of music. I have thirty reserved for Japanese Rock and Pop. I had yet to begin usage of the other sixty GB until yesterday. I spend a few hours deciding and finally after much deliberation, begun putting video game soundtracks on my 2nd Zune.

So far, here is what I have on my MP3 player....Bionic Commando, Bionic Commando ReArmed, Final Fantasy VI, Gitaroo-Man, Phoenix Wright, Katamari Damacy, Killer 7, Kingdom Hearts, Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, Radirgy, Professor Layton (1-3), Rhythm Tengoku, Ryu ga Gotoku 3, Shadow of the Colossus, Valkyria Chronicles, We Love Katamari

I am putting on tonight....Arcana Heart, Bit Generations, God Hand, Blue Dragon, No More Heroes, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Okami, Seiken Densetsu 4, Fragile, Big Bang Mini, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy Tactics, Metroid Prime & Fusion, Lunar SSS, Smash Bros. Smashing Live!, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Lunime, Mother 3, Secret of Mana, Castlevania, Minibosses, ICO

Yes, I know I've missed some of the awesome ones. You'd probably mention some of the Final Fantasies. Maybe a few sequels to the ones I've already mentioned. You can mention those if you want, but honestly there's no need to. I'm looking for some real winners here. Some think outside the boxers.

Music that shows that you've played a few game other than your average game player. So, any help is most appreciated. There are no wrong answers. Just Stupid ones.

Peace,
David

Thanks for sticking around through the rest of my post.

    Hey David,

Uncharted 1 has a great soundtrack! Definitely a must add.

Dunno if you saw the Final Fantasy Advent Children Complete trailer that was on the Japanese PSN, but the song in it by Kyosuke Himuro (same singer who sung Calling in the ending for the original Advent Children) duos up with Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance for the song "Safe and Sound". Definitely one of my favorites (it's all in english o_O).

I also really like the Zone of the Enders 2 soundtrack, especially the theme "Beyond the Bounds".

Not exactly Final Fantasy, but on that note, Xenogears and Xenosaga Episode 1 were quite well done. Xenosaga II and III are good as well if you like work from composer Yuki Kajuira.

I also quite like the soundtrack from Wild Arms XF, the tactical RPG on the PSP.

    Hope this helps!

Wow, I really like anime girls with headphones on. I gotta get me one of them Sony MDR-XB300's

Anyway, I really enjoyed listening to the Halo 3: ODST soundtrack, thats pretty much the only game soundtrack I listened to recently. "Light At The End" is my favorite song from the ODST soundtrack.

    That's all I can suggest.

P.S. Chrono Trigger's World Revolution is the best boss music EVER.

It might be nostalgia talking more than anything, but ... Earthbound. I remember that game having some pretty awesome music. I'd also suggest digging around on OCRemix (http://www.ocremix.org/) to see what you can find. The whole site is hit and miss, but there are some incredibly talented people there turning crappy songs good, and good songs even better.

Some more specific examples of what you can find:

    Metal Gear Solid Medley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA5dyJevpiY&feature=player_embedded

Daydreaming Again (Making me like anything from the FF7 soundtrack decent again after my childhood spent playing it is a gift in my book ): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IC6kFXn5zcw

Oh, and I have to agree with ScoutHood. ODST had a surprisingly good soundtrack.

Dark Cloud 2. You have got to put some of that on there. Fuck yeah nostalgia.

Have five recommendations with the best representative songs for each:

    1. Tales of Legendia
The Tales series in general usually has mediocre soundtracks to accompany their games, but Legendia is the diamond in the rough. Go Shiina composes very powerful and emotional pieces, and he's created quite possibly my favorite video game OST ever, so I hope you at least give a few tracks a chance.
    http://tinyurl.com/yc4allb
    http://tinyurl.com/ydnanxa
    http://tinyurl.com/ydfupuu

    2. Persona 3/Persona 4
If it isn't Go Shiina, then it's Shoji Meguro who's captivating my heart with his music. Both 3 and 4 have amazing tracks, with the later having the superior OST in my opinion.
    http://tinyurl.com/ya2bbol
    http://tinyurl.com/nk33qu
    http://tinyurl.com/mwess5

    3. Castle Crashers
Simply awesome. The soundtrack is very heavy on the techno and the trance, but it does have quite a few varying songs as well.
    http://tinyurl.com/y9fkag9
    http://tinyurl.com/bc3mtl

    4. BlazBlue
I could also easily add the entirety of Guilty Gear here, but I would never be able to stop if I did that so I'll limit myself to plugging just BlazBlue for now. Has a great soundtrack made up of heavy rock, and if you do enjoy the BlazBlue soundtrack then you have a whole mountain of treasure to climb up with Guilty Gear as well. Win-win situation.
    http://tinyurl.com/y8k2dhj
    http://tinyurl.com/ydjfnw9

    5. Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Saving the best for last, though I have no idea if you will even consider this to be legible. :P It technically can be labeled as a "game" (visual novel, to be exact), so take that as you will; however, I feel that I should expose you to the music of Umineko regardless of whether it fits your criteria or not. If anything is to compete with Legendia, then it's the Umineko soundtrack which has been composed by various Japanese doujin artists. ((I really think you should give the games a try too, as you seem to like games with really good stories.))
    http://tinyurl.com/mbdptm
    http://tinyurl.com/ye4l84s
    http://tinyurl.com/y96tl3b
    http://tinyurl.com/y95xkwd

Well that's all I got. If you end up liking any of these soundtracks, then I'm glad I could help. If not, then I'm sorry for wasting your time. Either way, thanks for the lovely images. :9

hey david. have you tried getting the rare and sought after tracks in the "Orchestra Game Concert" series? there are 5 all together and it was one of the first concerts to orchestrate and arrange nostalgic and classic themes you have herd throughout video game history. more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestral_Game_Music_Concerts

    other goodies are
Play! A Video Game Symphony- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play!
    Tour de Japon- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tour_de_Japon#Tour_de_Japon

also, you didn't mention any bioware games. they make great music for all their games. also, the fable soundtracks are very good as well. and surprisingly the soul caliber series has some great themes in it.

    GO ZUNE!!!

Well, I've got lot off video game music on my pc too, so here some that you didn't list that I find fit with the other:
Grandia II (granas sanctuary , despair and hope) , The Bounce (love is a gift), Devil May Cry (ghost ship) , Little Big Planet (to much of them XD) , Infamous (the theme song), Armored core (good techno song, even more the NEXUS intro song) , Silent Hill series ( SH3 - when you're not here)...and that's about it, but you're already gonna get some of Nobuo Uematsu work in too. I know there's an amazing Orchestral rendition of the soundtrack of Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. I know this, because I own it. The text is in Japanese (yes, import) but I think the name of the orchestra that recorded it was called the "Hyrule Orchestra" or something. Maybe Nintendo has some info on it.

Anyway, check that out if you can. If Bioshock has a soundtrack, maybe check that out for some good ol' 50s style music.

I noticed a lot of people suggest Chrono Cross.

I thought it'd be a fairly obvious one.

However, if you are into Chrono Cross' great soundtrack, I advise any music by Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer, who also composed Xenogears and Xenosaga Episode I.

I'm not sure what other games he has worked on, just that every game I've played that he has worked on is bloody brilliant stuff.

    Oh geez. I can't believe I forgot...

I know Tekken has some catchy tunes, Tekken 5's soundtrack might be a decent choice.

I'd definitely add BlazBlue's soundtrack too. However, the themes for the game, such as Ao-iconoclast by kotoko or even Bang's theme by Hironbu Kageyama are not on the soundtrack sadly. You'll have to find the singles, to get those tracks, which are unfornately, my favorites of the game.

    My suggestions:
Wild Arms 1, 2, 3 - I found the games overall to be pretty average, but I absolutely adored the soundtracks to each of them. Michiko Naruke is the music composer to the games. She also happen to contribute some work to Smash Bros. Brawl and the recent Wizard of Oz RPG on the DS.

And now for the rest of my suggestion:
    -Any MegaTen game
    -Legend of the Mystical Ninja
    -Mystical Ninja 64
    -Pop N' Twinbee
    -King of Fighters 97'
    -Streets of Rage 2
    -Super Double Dragon
    -Brave Fencer Musashi
    -Street Fighter III (Second Impact)
    -Hotel Dusk

Some of my favorite soundtracks lately come from:

Eternal Sonata - It's a game about a composer, so the music is just outstanding
All 3 Xenosagas - especially the first one, my favorite track is "Zarathustra"
All 3 .hack//GUs - especially the third game, Redemption
All 4 .hack//Classics - special note on the final battle tracks and the special area tracks
Final Fantasy X - disregarding Otherworld, it's music to my ears (if you'll excuse the pun)
Rogue Galaxy - Overall only decent, but it has some hidden jewels if you're willing to look.
LittleBigPlanet - when you're feeling in the mood for some happy or just classy music, consult LBP. You have to put together the soundtrack for yourself, though, since it's from a bunch of different artists.
Fallout 3 - obvious choice if you're into 50's music. Dur.

Last but not least, Folklore (PS3 exclusive) has a wonderful soundtrack. It's a "hidden jewel" game, and very short, but the soundtrack is one of the things that makes up for the teeny length in my eyes. Some of the later tracks, especially the ones from later boss battles and areas, are especially good. Check it out if you can find it.
