I think this trailer may have swung the pendulum back over to Left 4 Dead 2... sorry Brad.

This trailer definitely restored my hype in L4D2, I'm curious to see if this means that the game is going to have more of a story-based focus in comparison to the first.

Valve should just say fuck it and make a bonafide Left 4 Dead CG movie and distribute it on Steam.

While it would be interesting if valve actually implements a story into l4d2, that doesn't swing any pendulum. This game lacks any major game overhauls or changes, it is just as big of a waste of time and gamers money as modern warfare two is. Story or not, this is l4d with a chainsaw and guitars, that doesn't amke it l4d2, that makes it bullshit.

I still think that you should get Dragon Age first, then l4d2

This looks like it could very well be the new intro.
It has definitely given me a hope that this might turn into a legitimate sequel. Not just a game that feels like an expansion.

A story-less game with 5 repetitive "campaigns" is going to win out over a BIOWARE game....Nick I expected more from you.

This looks so freaking cool, hope it's gonna be just as fun as it looks. Can't wait for it to come out.
And for all those people wondering if it will be having a story line or thinking it's not, according to a review by IGN these campaigns will be connected with a plot so yes, there is going to be a narrative with background and such this time around. Guess Valve took note of the fans upset by the lack of story in the first one.

I hate the L4D2 haters. First off, it's not story-less. Valve themselves has said there's a story to it. Notoriousmatty, how do you know the 5 campaigns are repetitive? Have you somehow managed to play all 5 campaign modes? L4D's campaigns weren't repetitive, and the only reason anyone would say that now is to put down L4D2.

Also, Travis, L4D2 isn't just chainsaw's and guitars. There's the 10 melee weapons (axe, baseball bat, cricket bat, chainsaw, crowbar, guitar, frying pan, katana, machete, nightstick), all the original guns plus 6 more (AK47, grenade launcher, magnum, a new assault rifle, silenced SMG, and a new semi-auto sniper), explosive rounds, incendiary rounds, laser sight, adrenaline injector, 3 new special infected, different behaviors (and even genders) for special infected, new common infected that behave differently (hazmat, clown, mud men, and 2 more for the other 2 campaigns), scavenger mode, a "realism" modifier, 5 new campaigns, and an AI director that doesn't just spawn zombies differently but has control to change entire map layouts, rolling crescendos, and variable weather conditions. They've also made upgrades to online play like being able to jump into matchmaking. And like I said before, there actually is a story to this one. They've also touched things up graphically.

So is all that still not worthy of a sequel? Certainly can't get all that from DLC, which you'd probably end up paying atleast the same amount for a whole new game anyways.

*salutes Skeet11* Thank you; I've been so irritated as well by these people saying that L4D2 is gonna be stupid and not worth anything, just because it won't be completely and totally different compared to the original (even though there will be lots of differences as you mentioned). It's good to see someone else so against these foolish assumptions.

So developer faith is the criteria for this argument then? Because Valve has quite the track record themselves.

While it looks great, I can see they fleshed out the characters quite a bit with this trailer, which I hope will remain like so during the actual game.

I also remember when getting new game sequels was a welcomed thing, and wasn't bitched at by a whole lot of people who are just speculating on what's been shown and making their final decision just by watching a game and not doing what was intended. Playing it.

As cool and funny these cinematics are they only make me feel pretty indifferent when I think how little they have to do with the actual GAME and GAMEPLAY.
L4D2 won't have a story more than the brief, shallow explanations done for the scenarios. And that's how it should be seeing as these scenarios are supposed to be played over and over and over again. If there was actually a story with cutscenes it would get tremendously repetitive and people would be skipping the cutscenes anyway. Having heavy story elements and that type of progression doesn't have a place in a game you're playing over and over again.

These are just as cool as the cinematics Valve do for the TF2-classes, which are also really awesome, but just like this they have very little to do with the actual game and gameplay. TF2 is a game where you play the same maps over and over again. There's no place for story within the actual game. L4D is the same.

Funny/cool cinematics and supposed story elements should not be the reason one should be looking forward to L4D2 or be "convinced" of the games merit. Because these won't have any place within the game at all.
The genius of the game lies elsewhere, and it's going to be fucking awesome!
